New Animal Kingdom Dining Option.

Apparently, Animal Kingdom has a new dining option: Picnic in the parks. You place an order, pick up your food with utensils, plates, and a reuseable bag, and enjoy it at several picnic areas throughout the park.

It sounds like a great idea, and the price for a sandwich, side, dessert, and drink, sound reasonable too!

Details here.

Both the food and the price look good to me.
Thanks for the info.

Off topic but for the record..
TDL and TDS have their own picnic areas out front by the gates at both parks, where you can bring your own foot, eat, hang out, read a book, watch grown office ladies wearing Disney ears and plushes, rest and look for hidden Mickeys in within the picnic area's surroundings. And it's all FREE OF CHARGE as since it is outside the gates and you do not need to step inside the parks for nothing.

Ok, carry on.

As does Disneyland Of course people bring in KFC to eat inside the park anyway

But in this case... they are also selling you the food. So it's not like they're charging you an entrance fee to eat your OWN food, KWIM? Instead of ordering then eating at a quick service, you're ordering and eating a a picnic table. And it's probably pretty scenic too

Re: New Animal Kingdom Dining Option.

Here are the side that go with the Chicken or Ham:
Gourmet Sides (16 oz.)
-- Chips

-- Macaroni & Cheese
-- Seasonal Fruit Salad
-- Coleslaw
--
Mashed Potatoes and Gravy
-- Tomato and Cucumber
-- Corn Medley
-- Orzo Pasta Salad
-- Green Beans •
-- Oven-Roasted Potato Wedges

Chips?!?! A Gourmet Side? Too FUNNY!

Question: Is it me or is this an American thing - I often see Mac and Cheese as a side dish in Florida - Is this a common side dish in America? At home Mac and Cheese is a Main meal with Veggies as a side. Or in my case, a basic diet (KD) going through college. Shhh don't tell my mom!

Re: New Animal Kingdom Dining Option.

So where are these picnic areas? Just public seating tables that already existed or somewhere previously inaccessible related to some scenic animal spot?

And why does it start with meals for 3 people? Where's the romantic picnic for 2?

Re: New Animal Kingdom Dining Option.

They've been adding picnic areas lately to DAK, and I've been wondering why. Now I know. One of them that leaps to mind is the walkway between PetriFries (I mean, Trilobyte) and the Nemo theater.

I've seen folks unpack coolers and open up loaves of bread, slather on mustard, rip open pre-packaged meat, and have at it. So there's a dark side to the addition of picnic tables. WDW no longer pretends to prevent outside food in the parks (it's right there on their website), so this is a topic ripe for the plucking.

I don't even think it's an American thing, but a Southern American thing, since the only places I've really seen it as a side are down South or restaurants that specialize in "Southern" cooking. Maybe that's just me though...

Yay! You know.. Jeff has never had KFC!

I agree almandot, it does seem kinda strange it starts w/3... I guess it targets families. But having an extra sandwich for later would be good too!
