Magic Kingdom effects and details checklist

Again, I’m trying to create a permanent clearinghouse or watchlist for each Park of effects and details that are lost, broken, etc.. Hopefully, a moderator can make each of these threads a sticky and people can report on the status/state-of-repair and it can be updated here: green is working properly red is turned off/broken.

As an example, the Europeans have done an extraordinary job on their Park’s checklist:

This way we can not only share the great details that are often overlooked, but also keep Disney management on their toes. Maybe even get things fixed.

As input comes in, I will update the first post. TDLFan, I expect you to have a tremendous amount to add.

Don't forget the talking skull before the drop on Pirates, it was removed during the Depp-refurb and replaced with nothing.

one could argue it was replaced by the mist screen effect. WDW's Pirates is just that pathetically short. You'd get too much overlapping audio if you placed the screen anywhere else and kept the skull so I guess something had to go. DL's Pirates replaced a mostly dead spot with the effect and then took the dialog from that spot and reworked it into Davy Jones lift hill spiel.

youknow ironically it was working just fine when I went durring Christmas

Pirates looked like complete and utter crap. Great Movie Ride was worse then usual (that ride reaches new lows every year). Energy did it's yearly evac that prevents me from seeing the ending. But Splash? everything was working for the most part except maybe that frog at the first small lift hill, he looked pretty broken.

Hopping Brer Rabbit works. I saw him just the other day. In fact, he's worked every time I've ridden in the last year.

He was working in March when I went but two things were not:

- Mr. Bluebird at the end did not move at all
- Gator in finale scene was missing completely (one who makes up the trio as you enter the scene on the left)

apparently these two have been busted for awhile, but everything else has been working.

Pirate's talking skull was taken out for good reason. It just sucked. The spiel was lame and uninspired and the Imagineers wanted it out while management wanted it in to warn people of the drop, so the story goes. I'm glad it's gone because it would just compete with Davy Jones for guests attention and the drop space is more mysterious completely dark without any warnings or sounds. the barker bird was moved to DTD.

However these effects were not working when I went on (on top of the poor quality speakers and AAs that make up most of the ride):

- Pirate with all the hats was missing his hats (for quite some time now)
- Air effects in cannons were not working (again, for some time now apparently)
- Davy Jones works on and off, but if he's busted they still run the ride.

Small World have various dolls missing, most obviously was the Taj Mahal display where the entire row of girl dolls on the left side of the pond in front were missing. The Hawaii scene had dolls missing too.

No. It is the date of the latest update reported. For example, I've just changed the hopping Brer Rabbit to (April '09) as it has been reported in this month as working properly. If someone next month reports it has stopped working, it would switch to (May '09) (in red).

Mind that Hopping Brer Rabbit is picky when a lot of boats are running. I have seen him run before my log, after my log, but not during mine. Sometimes it's luck of the draw, even when he's OK.

Agreed. Usually when I ride I watch it from as soon as I can see him in front until he's out of view completely to see if its working. Usually I do catch him, but the last few trips he's not been around. Glad to hear he might be fixed though!
