Besides, Star Wars fans will keep coming every May for Star Wars Weekends, so it's not like they will lose money from them.

I'm not saying I don't want Star Tours II. On the contrary, I'm a big Star Wars fan and can't wait to see what they've done. However, like the Tiki Room and Small World, it's kind of nice to have different versions between the two U.S. parks. Maybe Disney World will be known for having the original while other parks around the world will get the new reason. After all, the number one complaint that I hear from Dineyland fans is that any worthy new attraction they get is cloned for Disney World.

Plus, what if you don't like the new version? Disney has proven that updated attractions don't always equal better attractions, although they certainly capable of doing a great job.

To sum it up, it might be a good thing that Disney World keeps Star Tours I.
Possibly. But probably not.

I still like the original Star Tours, but keeping it when DL will have a far superior snazzy new version...I don't see the sense in that. Let's not forget the typical 5-10 minute wait times for Star Tours...let's face it, the ride is not a big draw anymore, folks. Considering the tepid popularity, I don't think many people will appreciate the same old ride when DL will have the new one.

What if we don't like the new version? Compared to the current one? How many people still like the first one now? The old one has an outdated motion simulator, while the new one will have a state of the art MS. The new one will be in 3D, and reportedly, will have a variety of storylines built in. From everything I've read about it, ST II will just blow the old version out of the water. I still think it would be moronic for WDW not to get Star Tours II!

I, for one, still love the old one and you yourself admited to liking it as well in your post above.

So because it is old and newer technologies exist, that makes it not good anymore? That is like saying that The Enchanted Tiki Room Under New Management is better then the original that still runs at Disneyland because it is a newer show and uses newer AA technology and music. I mean, nobody can judge Star Tours II yet because nobody has seen it, but I'm just trying to point out that newer doesn't equal better.

As for the reports of it being in 3-D, why does it need to be in 3-D? Should objects be flying through the windshield of your space cruiser on your flight? No. It doesn't even fit with the story of the attraction for it to be in 3-D. If something is to hit the windshield and shatter it, then all of the guests on board will be sucked into the vacuum of space, never to be heard from again. Who is going to shop at Tatooine Traders then?

The part that I'm most excited for is the smoother simulator, but I am worried about the new film. I guess we need more information, but I want to see Rex still be our tour guide, but he will be experienced now, so all of the fun mishaps from the first version won't happen. The possibility of different endings would be nice for re-rideability, but I have a feeling that Lucas will theme it to the new trilogy, or combine elements from both. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but if they Jar-Jarify it, I'm going to be mad.

You forgot the add "...on a slow day." When I was at DHS today, it was 40 minutes. During Star Wars Weekends, it's usually between 40 and 60 minutes. Why do you think they keep the Fast Pass machines there? Because the ride still draws a crowd at times. It's not a thrill ride by today's definition and it's not new, so Fast Passes aren't gone by noon, but they are necessary at times.

I would like to see WDW at least wait until it opens somewhere else so they can get some guest feedback. Besides, DHS seems to be the only park that they are focusing on right now (2 expensive attractions in the past 2 years and a third on its way for 2012). I still can't believe there is room in that parks' budget for this expensive enhancement.

I know I would not go on an older version of Star Tours at WDW if Disneyland had Star Tours 2. That is the way I am now with Space Mountain. I have no plans on riding Space Mountain again at WDW until they finally decide to rebuild it as they did here in CA.

Re: What new rides for 2011

Possibly better than any new ride, if true, is the rumor on another site by WDW1974, also a member here, that the Hat at the Studios might be coming down sooner rather than later.

Of course new rides would also be welcome

I would love for the hat to come down. I've heard a lot of rumors about it lately too, so hopefully these are true.

Another welcome rumor that seems to be confirmed is that the Yeti in EE is once again moving. While not the complete A mode, he is swiping at the car, and seems to be a definite improvement!

Hmm. I now have two reasons to go to Animal Kingdom. To see if the Yeti is semi-mobile and to find the hidden path.

Re: What new rides for 2011

Ahem. There is a new attraction coming to Epcot. My family and I were asked to test a part of it, although I can't say what it is due to the fact we signed a contract. I think they said something about it coming during November. All I can say is that it's going to be a blast, and that my family and I had a really fun time testing it.

Also, I was speaking to a cast member at ST and they confirmed (at least to me) that in about a month, they'll start refurbishing it. It pays sometimes to talk to them when the ride shuts down because of a power surge.

Perhpas the Raytheon Kuka coaster in Innoventions? It's already been announced, and wouldn't necessarily consider it an attraction per se.

If not, it's always fun to be surprised.

Welcome to MC!

Re: What new rides for 2011

I don't think the Raytheon Kuka arm is what most Disney Park-goers consider an attraction. It's a part of Innoventions, which demonstrates new and future technologies while educating guests, but I don't know of anybody who goes to Epcot just for something at Innoventions.

True, but it's hard to imagine any attraction being kept so top secret. I am anxious to hear of plans, but things are so confusing trying to keep track. With that being said though, there are a lot of rumors floating around that people "in the know" have claimed are awfully close to being greenlit.

As I said, I would GLADLY welcome any surprise announcement, but I'm not holding my breath either.

If so, that is a very recent improvement. I was there in early May, and the Yeti was definitely in B mode

From what I have read online, it's only a week or so old. It's not all the time, but there are multiple reports of the Yeti swiping at cars once again.
