Blasphemy!!!

No it's not a 4th of July thing. It's a WDW classic! It's a parade of barges of animated lights (think like Main Street Electrical Parade) that goes through the SSL and Bay Lake each night.

Electrical Water Pageant

Re: PhotoMatt Pics - WDW and more - 6.30.09 - 7.07.09

I'm surprised no one gets my "Duck, and cover!" reference. Doesn't that family totally remind you of the one that gets nuked by the DoD in the atomic bomb tests?

Anyways....

Here are some pics from the 2nd of July.

I wanted to check out the view from this one spot. As it turns out, it's not so good. The lesson has been learned though, and I know now not to go there again.

I know this shot is overexposed, but I wanted to post it because I sense an epic picture to come. If you look closely, you can see some intense splashes of color. If I get the timing just right, between the shells that are white and intensely bright, I think I could get a truly incredible shot.

More pics to come, this time from the 3rd.

Re: PhotoMatt Pics - WDW and more - 6.30.09 - 7.07.09

I arrived a few hours early to stake out my spot. I was relieved that there were no other nutcase photogs willing to camp out as long.

As I waited I noticed this.

Sunset on the Seven Seas... (Lagoon that is)

There were white stars and blue stars too. Next year I will get all three together.

This was already posted, but it's the end of the show on the 3rd, so I thought I would post it again.

Pictures from the 4th are next.

Re: PhotoMatt Pics - WDW and more - 6.30.09 - 7.07.09

I think I need to find another photo hosting site. Photobucket - or something, is messing with the quality of the pictures. The pictures are losing contrast and color. It's kind of disappointing.

Anyways, onto the 4th.

I watched some video of the show on the 3rd on youtube and decided which shots I wanted to get the most. I rehearsed the timing for several hours and thought I was ready for the show. Well I was, but, as luck would have it, the sound failed about halfway into the show. So, since my timing was based on sound cues I was lost during the second half. D'oh!

On a separate note, fireworks shows should be done IN THE DARK! Disney, move the show to TEN o' clock, just like Wishes.

The MMS Wonkatania. MMS stands for Mickey Mouse Ship, of course.

This is exactly what I wanted...except for cutting off the top and the fact that it is not dark.

I messed up the timing and held the shutter to long. I just wanted the red, white and blue splashes. Just pretend that's all you see.

The finale. I did not want to cut off the top, so I moved the camera up. As it turns out, I could have kept it where it was and still had the floats in the pic.
Oh, well, as I said before..."There's always next year."

That's it for now. I plan on going to see Wishes tomorrow night, so I will have more fireworks shots. I think I will be here for two more weeks, so I should have many more pictures to post.

Oh, one more thing. If you want to see all of the pictures I took, the albums are public so you can see them if you want to.

Electrical Water Pageant
The water pagent has been around since the 70's. It makes various stops (Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Contemporary, MK, etc.) and puts on a little show. It's really cute. I finally saw it for the first time last year.

The Electrical Water Pageant is summed up perfectly in the link flynnibus posted.

One thing not mentioned is that the rumor is that it's the inspiration for the Main Street Electrical Parade.
