Reports are surfacing that the Fantasyland refurb is a go

And is being pushed through by the very top levels of the Disney company in essence overriding TDO completely. The plan that is being reported will be approximately 500 million dollars, will include the little mermaid ride, a major fantasyland facade refurb, a few more rides and also expansion into Mickey's Toon Town Fair.

Don't ask me for more info, because I don't know. I'm just being the middle man and reporting what some of the insiders on another sight are claiming. If so, this sounds like it will be very nice.

I would love to see the facade refurb done. I remember back in the early 90's, a friend of mine was a CM at the Disney Store and got to be part of the College Program one year. He was the first to tell me about rumors about WDW getting new Fantasyland facades like at Disneyland... and this was almost 20 years ago. So the rumors regarding that have been around for a LOOOOONG time.

Well if it is a go it'll go towards restoring my faith in TDO. They're still not completely off the hook yet, but every little helps.

$500 million refurb? I've heard about the facade work and The Little Mermaid from reliable sources and have heard the rumors about Enchanted Forrest, but $500 million seems like too much money for some new facades and a clone of a ride at DCA. Expedition Everest reportedly cost $100 million. Toy Story Mania cost $80 million. If TDO is dropping $500 million on Fantasyland, then my socks better be completely knocked off.

Why would this help restore your faith in Team Disney Orlando? This project is reportedly being pushed by corporate.

It might include additional smaller attractions on top of a redo on the look of the land and Mermaid. I do however expect Small World to stay the same (tent look and all) given the money spent on repainting and reorganizing the queue and I will have no issue with that personally.

What's funny is that if it does get built TDO will have squat to do with it. Even if they spent all of the $500 million (2/3rds the old proposal supposedly) TDO should not be thanked, as they were NOT the ones pushing for this apparently or Rasulo (big surprise there I know).
I like The Happiest Millionaire. What's wrong with that?

Its not just mermaid and facades. They will be moving around existing attractions, redoing the castle courtyard, removing that toon town area, switching out snow white for a beauty and the beast dark ride, and supposedly adding an all new ride to the area (Snow White Mine Coaster, Rapunzel?). Only time will tell.

Beauty and the Beast was cut, and ToonTown sadly isn't going anywhere.

I heard B&B was cut, but parts of MTTF's days are numbered.

What will happen to Pooh's playground? This might be the best opportunity to bring back a revamped version of 20,000 League's since the remake of the movie should coincide with the opening of the new fantasyland.

Good news though, I am happy to hear when Disney decides to do anything with WDW.

You're thinking like a fan, not like TDO.

20k is not coming back. That plot of land will be TLM and Pooh's Playful Spot will be hanging around.
