    Souvenirs to bring to co-workers?

So a few weeks ago, one of my co-workers went to WDW and brought back something for everyone in the office (a batch of pens w/Disney characters that say Florida). So I feel like I should bring everyone something! There are about 8 people in the office. What would a relatively inexpensive group gift?

^^^That's what we brought back, by using up the last snack credits on our dining plan. But if you want to do a group gift, you could get a bigger box of chocolates for everyone to share.

I brought back disney pezz dispensers once, but I go so often it would be silly for me to bring back something every time.

Re: Souvenirs to bring to co-workers?

The other option of course is to bring back nothing for the co-workers. Simply because 1 worker has done it doesn't mean that it is expected. Where I am I would say 50% of the people that take vacations don't even tell others where they are going. Out of a group of maybe 40 people I think only once has any of them ever brought stuff back for the office staff.

So while the gesture might be nice, you shouldn't think that it is expected or required. And when you mention looking for something inexpensive it tells me you would probably be happier if you didn't have to spend your money on things for other people.

Remember its a vacation. You are not supposed to worry about work when your on vacation, and that includes worrying about what to take back to your co-workers. Trust me, all of us left at work aren't going to be saying, "darn her she should have brought me something." Most of us have grown up considerably since we were in grade school.

Re: Souvenirs to bring to co-workers?

Yeah, but with only a few people, it seems like it would be really strange to not give something. And believe me... I will NOT be worrying about work or answering the phone if they call! Oh heck no! lol

And I meant inexpensive as in not a t-shirt for everyone or anything too personalized. Rice Krispie treats is a good idea, esp. since most people are dieting (or else the chocolates would be good). Yoyo suggested those Mickey pops that come in a pack of a few.

Re: Souvenirs to bring to co-workers?

A close co-worker of mine tends to bring me stuff from WDW. Sometimes it's a pin, mini snowglobe ... and this last time she got me one of those car window decals with a 3-D Mickey Socercer's Hat antenna ball type thing ... looks like it is cut in half.

By far the car window decal is one of my favorites she has brought me. Although I keep it on my mirror at home, I think if I put it on my car someone would take it.

Doesn't the search give cause for shopping .... It's been a while since I was there, but i'm sure there were plenty of trinkets at reasonable prices that would do. It all depends on budget and numbers. pristine carrier bags can add to a really cheap gift if they still give them out. We did goody bags for 2 nephews and the fact they were in branded bags helped.... this time we're taking them with us instead !

I've brought back the small tins of mints. They sell packs of 4 and they have different characters on them.

goody bags is a good idea, so is simply putting a cheaper gift in a carrier bag!! - both of which i have done in the past, and people have loved, esp. since receiving the gift in a carrier bag is kinda liked it being wrapped!!

Only souvenir I ever got from a co-worker was when one of my former bosses went on vacation to Hawaii and brought everyone back magnets. But there were only 4 people in the office besides her.

Antenna toppers are great and inexpensive gifts. If you know everyone in the office well, you can personalize it to their tastes, otherwise a classic one like Sorcerer Mickey or the vintage black Mickey that says Walt Disney World on it is always nice.

Also, Disney makes these things now called "Kooky Pens," which are short pens of a character with a koosh ball sticking out the top. They can clip onto a keychain as well. Those could be fun for the office.

Beyond that, candy is classic. In Tokyo Disneyland, candy is the number one selling item because everyone who visits brings something for their friends and candy is the most affordable. They have everything from small bags of Goofy Candy CO. or Chip & Dale snacks to collectible tins and coffee mugs and boxes of chocolates. Maybe instead of bringing individual presents, you could make a gift basket for everyone in the office to share?

My hubby used to do this when we traveled...always small items like magnets, keychains, antenna toppers, pens, pencils, decals or stickers, candy bars, bags of pretzels, sometimes you can get multi-packs of things and just split the pack up into one for each person. They have the gift packs of hot cocoas and coffees, which you can bring back as an 'office' gift.

I was starting to advise him that it really wasn't necessary to bring back gifts, but before I could convince him he lost his job.
