Aside from the chaos of Fantasyland "blueprints", WOC press releases, and other new and exciting things, I took a trip out to Florida this week. This trip report will actually be in two parts- one this week and one next week.
Unlike previous trips, this trip to Florida included more than a trip to the place "where dreams come true."
But this week, we have the Walt Disney World Resort!
DAY 1
I arrived to Hollywood Studios around 6pm.
I didn't have a lot of time to do anything before the first showing of Fantasmic!, so I scurried my way to the back of the park- near MuppetVision.
Then it was time for the Studio Backlot Tour- I actually decided to watch this time, instead of taking pictures. I'm not a big fan of the pre-recorded spiel but whatever has to be done, I guess.
Well, I guess I did get one picture...
Exiting the Backlot Tour... couldn't resist this shot.
"Oh snap! It's 8:45, I'm going to get stuck in 'Standing Room Only' at Fantasmic!" - Luckily, I was able to find the one chair I needed... behind a pole. So, I got in line for the 10:30 show...
Yay, for not being behind a pole!
Time to say goodnight to the Studios...
DAY 2
Day 2 brought my favorite park- EPCOT, as well as a behind the scenes tour (Undiscovered Future World).
I arrived and went to guest relations to check-in and was told I was early. Apparently, early means "Hey, you can walk around and take pictures if you want." So I did.
For about 15 minutes, I was the only guest in sight.
Then, it was time for the actual tour...
First off, let me say this is a GREAT tour. Whether you know Epcot or not, this tour takes you to some great backstage places. Luckily, our tour group was only 3 people strong, so we got to go to an "extra" place...
Upstairs in the old ImageWorks.
We actually went and played with some of the old tables back where the games actually are. However, the most interesting thing was on a door...
I wasn't allowed to take a picture of it, but it was on a door off the main atrium that said, "Projection Test Area" with the WDI logo stamped on it. Our tour guide said that all Imagineering has told Guest Relations is that it will be "amazing" but hasn't actually said what it will be. So I'd keep your eyes fixed on the second level of the Imagination Pavilion in the year to come...
We had a brief discussion on the Wonders of Life Pavilion where I noticed something that I, later, went back to photograph...
If you're going to remove something Disney,
please remove it all the way.
Bad show, bad show.
(Where the helix used to be)
After a great 4 1/2 hours of touring, we ended at the China Pavilion...
After finishing World Showcase, I headed back to my hotel for a break and to get cleaned up for Reflections of Earth.
What else are you supposed to do while waiting on your elevator?
Despite a building storm, IllumiNations went on.
The park was now technically closed, but I took my precious time to get some of these pics:
Goodnight EPCOT and Day 2.
DAY 3
Day 3 was more of a blink than a day. I got to the Magic Kingdom around 7:30a and had to leave by 3:00p- and still get to Animal Kingdom. So it was a rushed day- but Extra-Magic Hours help a lot!
Random fact: my love for Disney, sparked from my love of trains...
Time to head over to DAK!, where I had basically no time at all!
And in the blink of an eye, it was time to say "goodbye" to
Walt Disney World and "hello" to Anna Maria Island...
...but that's for next week.
