PS- I thought the Cakestle was the most putrid thing I have ever seen!
My problem with the cake overlay wasn't so much with the cake look itself. I thought they did a pretty nice job on that. My problem was with the fact that they had to take a classic landmark and cover it up to do this special promotion. Same problem with the hat - it covers a beautiful landmark of the Chinese Theater. And don't get me started on the hand!!!
If they poured all that darn money they are putting in the other parks into Disneyland. We could have our Subs, Tomorrowland redo, new frontierland attraction, and massive refurbs.
That's like saying instead of building a new skyscraper in downtown Dallas, why don't we completely rebuild the town of Quitman, Texas? In other words, Disney as a company is going to put their money where it will do the most for them. All the massive refurbs in the world won't bring in the return on investment that the new stuff in WDW is going to bring.
I do wish they were doing more at DL. But most of that lack of action you can blame on the Pressler/Harriss regime. And you can thank Rasulo/Ouimet/Emmer that DL is getting as much as it is.
wow, hits some nerves huh? To be honest, I agree, this should be a huge celebration for DL, not WDW. However, try to sell this the WDW management that they are going to lose guests to a major celebration in DL and they would hit the floor. So, wallaa, a full scale world wide marketing blitz..what fun, aye?
I dunno, I hate it when they play with the castle and I think mirror sounds...well, stupid, but hey, lets see what they can do with it, right? It is Disney after all.........
For the most part, I agree. I think it looks much classier than giant crooked crowns. The only part I'm not sure I like is the giant screen with images of the other castles. Sort of like a misplaced billboard for the other parks.
What I don't like about the mirror to the other castles is that it makes it seems as though the center of the party is WDW, even though the celebration is for Disneyland's 50th. If they were going to do something like that, it would be more appropriate at DL.
But it is quite ugly, so I am glad it will be on their castle, not ours.
Anything listed on the park maps as an attraction is fair game for inclusion in the Rally.
I cannot confirm nor deny the inclusion of any attraction in the Rally.
I think it looks pretty neat actually, especially since it's only going to be a limited time thing. At least it still LOOKS like a castle. From far away you probably won't be able to tell much difference. Like previously stated, it's so much better than the cake. Do I really think they need to do it? Nah. The castle is so pretty on its own it doesn't need the extra "bling-bling." But it could always be a lot worse.
I actually think the mirror is a nice, new effect. And hey if we have to share DL's B-day with the world at least WDW is showing our castle. It's a little reminder of what they are celebrating and why the theme parks exist at all. It looks better on the big WDW castle than it would on DL's. I like it!
I have to say that I'm glad this chat got back to being about the Castle. It was getting kind of heated over the DL v/s WDW loyalties, haha.
Pulease, BigDaddyKyle, Disney stated that those "add-ons" - as you call them - were temporary for the millennium celebrations only, and that they would come down after that. I'm not surprised that Disney lied. But, um, it's 2005. They lied.
