Where is the best place at WDW to eat breakfast?

I am not interested in characters. I saw some comments that Chef Mickey's is not very good. Well, where is a good breakfast? I can think of Boma. Do you agree? Is there another choice?

Re: Where is the best place at WDW to eat breakfast?

A good breakfast is determined by where you start your day. Most resorts have food courts. If you are staying at a value resort, you only have the option of a fast food breakfast. Equally so with most moderates. With resorts that do serve breakfast, most good restaurants in resorts that serve breakfast, do not open until about 7 or 7:30 a.m.

Many deluxe resorts have good restaurants open for breakfast. If someone wants to travel early in the morning to another resort for breakfast, the way the buses are set up, it is a great bit of traveling to just get a good meal. Food Courts are good in a pinch, but a good sit down breakfast may only be had in some cases, in exchange for your time.

The Epcot resorts are loaded with good breakfasts. However, unless you are staying in an Epcot resort, it is very time consuming to eat there.

I have never understood, why the Magic Kingdom, and the other theme parks at WDW, do not offer more, choices for breakfast outside of character meals like Crystal Palace, and the near imposible to book, Cinderella Castle.

If you arrive early at Magic Kingdom, you can board a monorail and breakfast at the Contemporary, Grand Floridian, and Polynesian. I believe they all have open restaurants, that are other than character meals.

The thing is, how early are you willing to wake up and travel the transportation system of WDW, so your end result is the arrival at a nice restaurant, that serves breakfast? I believe this is why, most WDW travelers hit the food courts, skip breakfast, or plan their mornings around a pricy character meal.

Its all in the planning. Dining at WDW has become an activity onto itself. Spontaneity is not always practical.

I love WDW, but it always amazes me, the first things people talk about is what dining plans have you made?

Re: Where is the best place at WDW to eat breakfast?

We enjoyed breakfasts at both Kona Cafe (in the Polynesian) and Boatwrights (POR). I am not a 'coffee drinker' but will have some on random days, and Kona Cafe has GREAT coffee. NEITHER of these has characters.

We had one day where we were 'sleeping in' and then going to DTD to hit all the stores (it was my sister and I, shopping is part of vacation relaxation), and then late afternoon arrival at the parks, ending in the Halloween party, so that was a perfect day for us to go to a different resort and try out the breakfast (and having heard wonderful things about Tonga Toast....)

Later in our week, we were going to a non-early entry park, so had time for a more leisurely breakfast at our resort, so decided to compare Tonga Toast to the Banana Stuffed French Toast at Boatwrights - for us, Boatwrights had a slight edge, but one sample of each is not a very scientific experiment.

Best breakfasts on property that you NEVER see mentioned anywhere:

Trail's End buffet at Fort Wilderness.
    Boatwright's at Port Orleans Riverside.

    No where else comes close.

It is interesting that you mention Boatrights. I will be staying at the French Quarter so Boatright is right next door.

Sometimes you miss the thing in your own backyard. Thanks for the info.

Best Counterservice Breakfast: Electric Umbrella (it's one of the few places that still have French Toast Sticks...those are the best)
Best PS-Recommended Sitdown Breakfast: 1900s Park Fair
Best No-PS Sitdown Breakfast: Kona Cafe (The pancakes there are delicious)

    Two words: BLACK ANGUS

It's not on property but it's definitely worth it.

Call me crazy, but I much rather prefer the pastries in the food courts than a sit down breakfast. Can't beat those cinnamon rolls or chocolate chip muffins, or even the chocolate chip pancakes...delicious.
