Re: Matterhorn in WDW!

I think it would be cool to do a Glacier Bay type thing in between Advenrureland and Frontierland. Or even where Indy Speed Way is.

I like World Showcase the way it is, maybe a Pirates type E-Ticket but leave the thrill rides in Future World.

Re: Matterhorn in WDW!

I want it to be brought over as the centerpiece to a Europe area at Animal Kingdom. The ride is distinct enough from Everest to be brought over, and I might even consider doing whatever possible to reduce the need for height restrictions to make it more of a family coaster compared to Everest.

You could then work on Disney's new mountain range:
North America - where Camp Minnie Mickey is, with Grizzly Peak
South America - between North America and Africa with a falls flume ride
Africa - new Pride Rock building or Mt. Kilamanjaro to house FOTLK
Europe - the Matterhorn
Asia - Everest
Australia - where Dinoland is, Uluru (Ayer's Rock) to house the exhibit(s)

Re: Matterhorn in WDW!

I'm not wild about seeing the Matterhorn come to WDW - it's a nicely unique part of DL. But if they did build it, there's no way they would build in a 1959 roller coaster. It would be new, cutting edge, better than Everest, hopefully with AA figures that can continue to work!

Re: Matterhorn in WDW!

They already have the Matterhorn at WDW in theme at Expedition Everest. They have the Matterhorn in layout at Space Mountain.

Re: Matterhorn in WDW!

The Matterhorn is like the one good thing Disneyland has that Disney World does not. I say keep it only at Disneyland.

Re: Matterhorn in WDW!

As stated before, EE is simply an updated version of Matterhorn. I also believe in keeping unique rides in unique parks. If Disney cloned everything, what would be the draw in other parks? I say keep it separate!

Re: Matterhorn in WDW!

Although it would be AWESOME to see WDW have an amazing, gigantasaurus Matterhorn, they should put their money into creating a unique ride for Florida. Like Everest and like TOT was before it came to the rest of the world.

And this is a brilliant idea. Why haven't they done this yet?!?!?! Something about Middle Ages in England, or Japanese Adventures. SOMETHING AHHH!

Re: Matterhorn in WDW!

No because it is exclusive to DisneyLand. I think WDW should think of their own ride.

No to the Matterhorn, but I would love to see Fire Mountain in the Magic Kingdom.

Re: Matterhorn in WDW!

interesting ....
surprised some of you missed the MOUNT FUJI ride idea for the Japan pavilion at EPCOT. Unfortunately .. I could not find any artwork of it online .. but there is a brief mention on it in Wikipedia by going to the Japan Pavilion page.

The way for WDW to get a "Matterhorn" style ride would be to revisit the old Mount Fuji idea. Almost 3 decades later, the Japan pavilion is still devoid of an attraction!

Re: Matterhorn in WDW!

Disneyland exclusive please. Matterhorn's a great ride, but it would be outdated in WDW if they brought it cloned. It's a Disneyland classic and should stay that way.

Best place I know of mention and artwork is the Walt Disney World: Past, Present, and Future.

The concept art is at 4:33 of the video.

The rumors are that Mount Fuji is dead, due to Kodak's association with Disney. That's a rumor from what I have heard, but somehow I don't think it's 100% accurate.

I disagree. The matterhorn would probably be placed in the Magic Kingdom, not in the same park as EE. And while EE is a better ride, I love Matterhorn just as much. It has its own charming theming and coaster fun. Having experienced both, I don't think the Matterhorn is lame at all.
