6. The Spring Sprite
As the sounds of the band fade, you once again hear the Spectromagic fanfare. Rounding the corner you see another new float, it’s the Spring Sprite from Fantasia 2000! The fanfare begins to mix into the beginning parts of “The Firebird Suite” by Igor Stravinsky. The music is very airy and light. It’s sped up in order to keep with the pace of the procession. In the movie, the music plays during the time when she first wakes up and begins to enchant the trees. The Spring Sprite leads the way high into the air, held up by sparkling trees, and a long cascade of green foliage “hair” flows over the parade route. Her arms move up and down, and she waves to the crowd while spreading the foliage and nature. In her hair you can see small butterflies and insects batting their wings and changing colors. She is made up of 2 floats, and at the end of her second float you can see Elk, the Spring Sprite’s friend. He lights up in miniature lights as his fur, and he tilts his head back and forth to survey the crowd. As the Spectromagic Fanfare plays, the “shimmer” effect comes down to the Spring Sprite, and she lifts her arms as the shower of white LEDs come down her hair and turn her landscape into a dark blue nighttime. The LEDs also touch Elk, but he & the Spring Sprite’s Face remain in full color.
New Stuff:
-The whole float! Structure based upon Tokyo Disneyland’s “Jubilation!” Parade
-4 Moving parts: Butterfly wing flapping, Elk head, arms, and fully moving head (i.e. blinking, nodding, raising of eyebrows, and opening and closing of mouth)
-On 2 floats
-Completely covered with lights, except for the Spring Sprite’s face (lit up by several small, green, specialty spotlights buried in her hair) and the special surfaces of the butterflies.
-“Daytime” and “Nighttime” effects.
-Shimmer Effect
7. Sleeping Beauty Unit Fauna
When The Spring Sprite begins to leave, you see remnants of her handiwork in the form of giant gardens. You first see a very big Peacock covered in lights. It tilts his head back and forth, looking around, while it displays it’s feathers very prominently. The feathers make a diamond pattern of bright green and dark blue. Maybe it’s looking for a mate? Behind it is a small section of garden overflowing with flowers and large blades of grass, and each piece of foliage is outlined in dark blue light. You see Fauna, the green fairy that cared for Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty). She is now a face character. Her dress is a brilliant green, cutting through the blue nighttime lighting. She has a single green spotlight aimed on her from overhead. She’s the one that tried to bake a cake for Aurora’s 16 birthday… without magic. Needless to say, it came out horribly! Well, it’s a good thing she’s using magic today! She waves her wand at the spinning mobiles overhead and they change color magically!
When the fanfare begins to play, she musters up a bunch of magic with each wave of her arms. As the LED shimmer effect washes over the Peacock and the garden, Fauna waves her arms and the garden lights up in brighter colors! The peacock loses its diamond pattern and turns all green, while the flowers turn all different colors and the leaves and grasses turn jade green!
She has a new Audio Track: “Hello! (Giggle, pause) Oh, isn’t this just delightful? (Waving her wand at the mobiles) Ooh! What a lovely shade of orange! (Wave) And such a pretty purple! Hello there! (Pause) Oh, hello! Ah, I love this time of night. Everything just sparkles! (Pause, then wave) Isn’t this just the most precious yellow you’ve seen? (Wave) Oh, what a deep blue! I wonder… “
(Fanfare, BIG wave, LED Shimmer, the floats turn deep blue “nighttime” colors)
“Ah! The colors of nighttime! My favorite time. (Pause) Did you see Aurora with her prince? I just live happy endings… (Pause, then wave) Such a nice green, if I do say so myself. Green is my favorite color, you know! (Wave) Oh, pink! I do just love pink. (Pause) Hello! You’re such a pretty princess. Hello there, how do
you do? (wave, the spinning lights turn off) What? No color? Oh, (tsk tsk tsk) this will never do…“
In between this float & the next, there are dragonflies that change from light green to dark blue during the changes.
(Fanfare, BIG wave, LED Shimmer, the floats turn vibrant “daytime” colors)
New Stuff:
-The mobiles react more promptly to Fauna’s magic
-“Nighttime” Effects on the Peacock & Dragonflies
-New Audio Track
-Spotlight
-Shimmer Effect
Flora & Merryweather
Close behind Fauna is another garden, this one a bit larger. It’s filled with flowers and giant leaves. Overhead, you can see more mobiles with the same sorts of lights on the ends of them. All the flowers and the lights on the mobiles are a light pink… wait! They just changed colors! Now they’re all a baby blue! Pink! No, blue! Under the mobiles you can see the pink fairy Flora and the "other" blue fairy Merryweather, in a magic battle: the epic battle of pink vs. blue. As one fairy calls out a color, all of the flowers, mobiles, and spotlights on the characters change to that specific color. When the Shimmer passes by, the float shimmers and changes to either “daytime” or “nighttime ”setting”. The flowers, mobiles, and spotlights “reset” into pink AND blue until a Fairy casts a spell. Then the items change colors in the darker setting.
New Stuff:
-The 2 fairies have consolidated into 1 float in order to give the couple a float
-The mobiles, flowers, and new spotlights react to the feuding fairies
-New Audio
-Shimmer Effect
Princess Aurora & Prince Phillip
Right next to Flora & Merryweather’s float, you see Aurora dancing with her Prince. As the fairies feud across from them, the couple waltzes together in another garden. Besides just the spotlights, flowers, and mobiles changing colors, Aurora’s dress also changes colors according to what the fairies say. On the back of the float is a beautiful waterfall. During the Shimmer, the flowers, mobiles, and spotlights “reset” into pink AND blue and Aurora’s dress begins flashing with white LED lights when the lights shimmer across the float. This is a show-stopping effect that ends when a fairy calls out a new color.
New Stuff:
-New characters Princess Aurora & Prince Philip

Merryweather: “Blue!”
(Music; It changes from pink to blue 1 more time)
Flora: “Make it pink!”
Merryweather: “Blue!”
(Fanfare, the LEDs light on the floats and in Aurora’s dress, the lights change into “nighttime”
Flora: “Make it pink!”
Aurora: “I KNOW YOU, I’VE WALKED WITH YOU ONCE UPON A DREAM, “
Merryweather: “Make it blue!”

Flora: “Pink!”
Merryweather: “Blue!”
(Fanfare, the LEDs lights on the floats and in Aurora’s dress, the lights change into “daytime”)
8. Pocahontas Unit
As the dancing couple dances away, a new float comes into view. You can see dancers dressed as giant butterflies with white wings. They hold poles with glowing green leaves on them. They twirl the leaves in the air as if holding a flag. The main float coming up is that of Pocahontas. Grandmother Willow sits on the front of the float, talking with the spectators. Her gnarled roots take up the bottom of the float and soak up the water from the previous float, while her blue-green bark stands up straight, holding up a curtain of green and sparkling weeping willow branches. Her face is articulated – she speaks and looks around. She also shines lights from her branches and talks to people. The butterflies help find the “child”. Behind her is another rushing waterfall with Pocahontas in a rocking canoe in its river. She sits rowing with Meeko, an animatronic, and Flit can be seen hovering by the waterfall. When the Shimmer passes through, the LEDs pass through the leaves & the butterflies, Grandmother Willow, The waterfall & the canoe. The handheld leaves transform from green to “the colors of the wind”, as do the butterfly’s wings and the whole of Grandmother Willow.
Audio Track:
Grandmother Willow: Hello children. I’m Grandmother Willow. Child! (light shines on a spectator) Yes, you! Oh, I see great things for you my child… I can feel it in my roots!”
Pocahontas: Wingapo. Wingapo means hello. What a beautiful night! You can feel the wind whistling through the trees!”
Grandmother Willow: “Hello there, child! Yes, you! Listen with your heart, then you will understand! (New spectator) “Child, look this way! Yes, you! Don’t be frightened, child! My bark is worse than my bite!”
Pocahontas: Wingapo! Grandmother Willow, Don’t you have a feeling something magical is happening tonight?
Grandmother Willow: Oh, yes!
(Fanfare Plays, Shimmer sweeps through and turns leaves and Grandmother Willow “green” again)
(Secondary Music: Just Around The Riverbend & Colors Of The Wind)
Pocahantas: I LOOK ONCE MORE JUST AROUND THE RIVERBEND, BEYOND THE SHORE WHERE THE GULLS FLY FREE! DON’T KNOW WHAT FOR, WHAT I DREAM THE DAY MIGHT SEND JUST AROUND THE RIVERBEND! FOR ME… COMING FOR ME!
Grandmother Willow: That girl has such a free spirit!
Pocahantas: “YOU CAN OWN THE EARTH AND STILL, ALL YOU’LL OWN IS EARTH UNTIL… YOU CAN PAINT WITH ALL THE COLORS OF THE WIND!”
(As she sings “wind”, the LED Shimmer comes through and
