Question about Tipping and the Free Dining Plan

Quick question I hope some of my east coast Micechatters can help me with.

We are going to be at WDW next week and we are using the Free Dining plan, we have used this before and it was great. But since our last visit I hear Tips are not included. The question is how do I tip? Can I just bring a Credit card and just charge the tip ? Or do I need to have Cash?

Re: Question about Tipping and the Free Dining Plan

Just pretend your British and then you won't have to tip. Employers should pay waitpersons enough so that a tip is not need anyhow. I feel that it shouldn't be up to me to fill the gap in their salary. But, with being said I used cash to tip when I used the dining plan last.... (Great, did I just negate my rant?)

Re: Question about Tipping and the Free Dining Plan

You can use a credit card, cash or even charge it to your room.

Re: Question about Tipping and the Free Dining Plan

We just got back from DisneyWorld, and we used the Dining Package.

When you get the bill for your meal, on the ticket there is a place for a tip - you can fill it in, and have the tip charged to the credit card you placed on your room when you checked in.
- you can, like we did, give them your room card, and run the payment for the meal(s) on your meal plan, and pay the tip separately with cash. I told each server that I would by paying them separately for the tip, and they all seemed much happier to have it done that way. That way, they get the tip right then, rather than getting it back later.

Also, there is a place where they print the "suggested tip" amout, giving you the amount of tip for a 15% and a 20% tip. And, on the basic meal plan, on your table service, your entree, desert, and drink (no alcohol) are all included, appetizers are not included on the meal plan.

Hope this helps.

"giving you the amount of tip for a 15% and a 20% tip"

IIRC, 15% and 18% - which was annoying, as I generally start at 20, and needed to do the math *anyway*.
