Lightbulb Meet The World and Eternal Seas in Epcot.

Basically, I would love it if both "Meet The World" and "Eternal Seas" to be seen the japan area of world showcase. Your Thoughts, please.

"Meet the World" doesn't even exist in Japan any more. So it must be an anachronism.

What I am trying to say, is that I would like to see it in Epcot(but there might be some people who would rather not see it in WDW) And I would like to know why not?(if this was posted before, please post it here.)

Attractions should be fresh, like good sushi.

I'd like to see a ride in the Japan pavillion. Wasn't there a bullet train to Mount Fuji surround-projection simulator proposed a while back?

Re: Meet The World and Eternal Seas in Epcot.

Meet the World came very close to becoming a realization in the Japan pavilion in the planning and construction of EPCOT.

I understand there's a set of gates that still exist ... that were to serve as the "entry/gateway" into Meet The World.

Can't remember the reason why it didn't go through.

Another proposal for the Japan pavilion was "MOUNT FUJI".
Basically .. the east coast version of "Matterhorn Bobsled Run" from Disneyland.

EPCOT is chuck full of ideas that never came to fruition ...
and those 2 for the Japan pavilion were among them.

On "The Eternal Sea" ........ it was just a film. Didn't sound like anything spectacular. As it didn't last long in TDL's Tomorrowland.

Currently .. World Showcase has 4 film attractions: O' Canada, Wonders of China, Impressions de France, and the post show film for Norway's "Maelstrom."

My hope for World Showcase's future ... would be a ride, or some multi-media presentation. Not film #5.

Just to give World Showcase a bit of punch as far as the few rides go, I say dig up the old concept for a Godzilla ride for the Japan pavilion.

Yes Meet the World was originally planned for EPCOT, but then they decided to put it in Tokyo Disneyland instead.

As to why it never happened, one reason may be because the show really glossed over Japan's involvement in World War II.

Re: Meet The World and Eternal Seas in Epcot.

Yeah the folks here in the US would not have liked that.

Re: Meet The World and Eternal Seas in Epcot.

Not funny DCAer.
I think the " gloss over the World War 2" reference is just rumor in the part of the fans in the US side and I wonder how many people who think this actually saw the show. Many japanese guests did not care for "Meet the World" because... let's face it, it was not a very good attraction. The feel of the show was more condecending than entertaining... with narrations that sometimes gave the impressions that the japanese were close minded and did not want to mix and mingle with other cultures.. At least that was the impression I always got from that show (and I saw it several times until its retirement) and never saw anything in it to believe there were references to World War 2, not even implied.

As for Eternal Seas... it closed so fast after TDL's opening that even many of the japanese fans do not know much, remember, or never saw it. All I know is that the movie was about Japan's close connection to the Sea, given that the culture is also very dependent on seafoood menus, fishing and related stuff.

Frankly? I am glad that these shows never became a part of EPCOT and were never seen outside Japan. I think it's important for the Disney parks to have some unique history. Let TDL's be these two shows, and even the Mystery Castle Tour. Just like some rides at the MK will always be missed by old timers like me.. Plaza Swan Boats, If You Had Wings.. or even 20K.
