    Boatwrights Dining Hall

Just returned from a fab week at POR, though it was slightly marred by our experience in the Boatwright. The food itself was passable, though overpriced, and a mediocre bottle of Pinot Grigio was $40! (Though one of our party had to send back his food twice as it was cold.) The service was atrocious. The waitress barely spoke to us, and we had to keep catching her eye as she seemed to forget about us! Once the bill came we noticed a 18% service charge had been added-this is Disney policy for parties over six. As the bill came to over $270 this was a $48 tip! We paid in cash, and waited for the change. At this point the waitress avoided coming anywhere near us, and after waiting for ten minutes, we called another waitress over who told us she would send her over. We are convinced that she had no intention of bringing the change, hoping we would forget about it and leave. We had a similar experience in the bar with the waitress there, and at Raglan Road. I dont mind tipping for good service, but I like to decide how much and I dont respond well to greed!! Loved the hotel though!

Tho Disney is notorious for avoiding complaints, you might wish to talk to them regardless, so that the bad service is, at the very least documented. With the amount of money you spent, you should have the expected Disney-service. Let them know, by all means.

And I agree with you, the hotel was massively nice!

You can also dispute the added gratuity, if you think the service wasn't worth it.
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

We had a very similiar experience there (though we didn't have the 18% gratuity automatically added). We love Riverside and on our first trip to POR, we had a wonderful meal at Boatwright's - food, service, etc. On our last trip we were excited to go back, but the food was not good and the waitress was even worse. It's too bad because we had enjoyed it so much the first time around. We already decided we won't be going back to Boatwright's for our next trip.

This is why I prefer the counter service restaurants 90% of the time.

I stayed at POR twice, but never ate at Boatwrights. For me the restaurant opened too late. I wanted to try their breakfast, but I was usually finished with my breakfast before they opened. During the day, I was gone to the parks.

    Re: Boatwrights Dining Hall

I stopped by there last Saturday as I was dropping off my friend who was staying at Port Orleans Riverside. It's funny, I stayed there myself once a couple years ago and didn't visit Boatwright's or get food from the food court. I went into the food court to look around but that was it.

Oh and when I looked around the food court last Saturday, I saw they had new refillable mugs themed to the "Celebrate Today" promotion. Thought about getting one, but didn't really have the extra money.

I avoided Boatwright when I stayed there due to the price not being remotely worth it. I enjoyed the food court at Riverside very very much though.

I was disappointed that the refillable mugs are not resort specific anymore. I was getting a really nice collection. I did buy one when I stayed at Pop Century. I just wish that it said Pop Century.

I agree, the place looks nice, didn't eat there, I prefer the less formal setting of a food court to a sit down, food court was perfectly adequate. The resort is lovely. though surrey biking in heat whilst waiting for magical express is not ideal use of the time .... I ended up buying an new shirt from Fultons to be comfortable on the long haul back home :-)
Smile, you never know who's looking !
