Re: New Concept Art for Magic Kingdom Fantasyland

Christopher Smith, the artist who created that artwork, was just laid off from WDI after more than 12 years of service.

Seriously? I'm surprised this didn't leak out with Delaney's and Valerie's departure...

Does "Christopher Smith" always sign his artwork with "G. Pro" in the corner?

Take your WDI layoff pity party elsewhere. Don't take responsibility for other people's work, and good riddance to dead weight in Glendale. Time for some fresh new faces. What good has come out of WDI in the 12 years that "Christopher Smith" has worked there?

Mr. Eggz I havent seen that info yet. I know that Valerie Edwards and Tim Delaney were let go. Would love to have a link to go with the story.

Not saying I dont believe you because it appears Disney is indeed trying to bring about fresh faces and ideas.

When does the actual construction for this start?
"All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." Walt Disney

Now I understand that "Blue Sky" means "No limits, nothing is a bad idea, everything is possible," along with "May never happen." But I prefer to define it this way: "Blue Sky = Hope." Unknown Author

You are new here. Be nice.

Here's a link for some help for people who don't know who is who at WDI.

Chris Smith did some. Greg Pro did some. You know I used to post a lot of news here but haven't in a long tome cuz I get people like this responding to my good info. There are some old timers on this site that know me and know my info is always good. But since this site now is over run with people who don't even know how to google anything to confirm it, I'll just take my information and go away and you all can talk among yourselves in ignorance. Bye.

DISGUY, I have heard that preliminary construction will begin late next year. Fantasyland will for sure be a mess once this begins, but the outcome looks like it will be well worth all the trouble. I cannot wait.

Been a follower of this whole mess since the leak in July. And although it's just WDI trying to douse out some of Wizarding World's fire, it is for the good of the park as always.

Now for AK to get such a boost!

i think it will be AMAZING. I first went to WDW in 81, and have seen it change sooo much. I think this fits in with Walts idea that his dream is ever evolving. Anaheim aint the be all and end all.

I dunno... it ain't over until there's no imagination left in the world. When it comes to the Fantasyland expansion it almost feels as if there's no creative imagination left.

Are these meet & greet locations going to close at a certain point? Or have limited times?

Eggz, please don't go, ignore those who are too hopped up on pixie dust to see past their own noses. What you say is not only true, but very important I feel. I keep getting this sense that something is going very wrong within WDI. The three recent dimissals (And really, for all we know, there could've been more. Chris managed to escape our notice, how many other did as well?), rumors of all "second gen" imagineers being in danger, the possibility that Tim and Valerie were pushed our because they fought for show quality, it's not good at all. It's bitter irony that one of the artists they used to sell the Fantasyland Princess-palooza to the salivating D23ers was so easily kicked to the curb after their media blitz was done.
