Downtown Disney Periphery Buildings - Pictures

My picture threads consist of images I have taken that focus on the architecture, landscape architecture, planning, design, and theming of the facilities highlighted. They may also contain short descriptions and commentary, but will not focus on construction progress or special events or memorabilia or food selections or my traveling companions. Hopefully these threads are a good introduction for those who have not seen these places yet. All killer, no filler!

Downtown Disney Periphery Buildings photographed in November 2008:
On the outskirts of this village of shopping and dining and nightlife are several notable buildings that serve support roles at the resort.

    Casting:
This center for employment was designed by famous architect Robert Stern and his prolific office. Other projects designed for Disney include the Beach and Yacht Club Resorts and Boardwalk Resort at Walt Disney World; the master plan, Town Center, and Florida Hospital at Celebration, FL.; the Feature Animation Building in Burbank, CA.; the Disney Ambassador Hotel at Tokyo Disney Resort; and the Hotel Cheyenne and Newport Bay Club Hotel at Disneyland Resort Paris.

    Team Disney:
This executive and managerial headquarters for the resort was designed by famous architect Arata Isozaki.

    Reedy Creek Fire Station 4:
One of four fire stations on the property, this one is an attractive modern facility with a delightful overscaled touch of whimsy in front.

    Enjoy!

Nice pictures. I really appreciate the effort Disney put into the architecture on display here.

These shots are a good example of why WDW feels so immersive compared to the "real world".

I LOVE the Reedy Creek Firehouse. Of all the postmodern buildings at WDW, it's probably my favorite - an example of postmodernism done well. It's so playful and yet dignified.

But then, it's kind of hard to judge without seeing the interior!

I believe that's where people go to apply for WDW jobs.

MarkTwain, I haven't been inside the firehouse either but am curious!

Disneytwins, Casting Building is indeed the place to go for getting a job at WDW.

All of the active RCFD stations are very nice buildings. The new station #3 on Maple Road has a very interesting design.

WDW Monorail, yes I understand the newer fire station has a Bahamas-like theme.

I like the fire house that's shaped like a dog house.

Love those pictures. Never seen that casting building! It looks awesome.

Can anyone fill me in on that, err, dome like thing on TDO. I've always wondered but never really asked.

I love that design. It's very intriguing to see it done like that since it's on a road which is normally not traveled by guests. I expected to be just an open air station much like the one behind the MK; a tin can of sorts.

The one behind EPCOT? Yes, I like that one very much too.

Really? That surprises me because it backs up to I-4 and it's dead across the road from Downtown Disney.

I need to take pictures of the doghouse station...it has a dalmatian spot pattern on the side facing away from the road.
