Mother of monorail driver killed in crash sues Disney - Bay News 9
LAKE BUENA VISTA (Central Florida News 13) -- The mother of the Walt Disney World monorail driver killed in a collision July 5, 2009 has sued the resort.
Christine Wuennenberg is accusing Disney of reckless conduct, which contributed to her son's death.
The wrongful death lawsuit claims Disney failed to follow its own monorail safety procedures, which led directly to the crash that killed Austin Wuennenberg, 21.
The complaint focuses on Disney's policy of having monorail drivers continue to drive their trains from the front cabin, even when they have to move the trains in reverse through track-switches, rather than drive from controls in the rear cab where they would have a clear view of the track as they back up.
