More themed hotel rooms coming for WDW?

According to this blog from the Orlando Sentinel, based on the success of the Pirates of the Caribbean themed rooms at the Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney has already chosen the next hotel to get the makeover.

Not much new information in the article besides the one sentence. I hadn't even realized these had opened, despite their popularity. I just know I wouldn't pay $30 extra a night to be placed in the building furthest away from the main hub of the resort.

Does the Sentinel say which resort they will do the theme rooms at?

No, it says Disney would not reveal it, nor would they give a timetable, except that they would try to incorporate it into the traditional room refurbs. So, when they do come, it still might be a while...

Port Orleans - Princess and the Frog. A total guess, but it sure makes sense.

Yeah because room refurbs only happen like every 5 yrs or so...

It does, but I didn't think they considered it to be a "successful" movie...

Was going to put it in my post, but didn't want to confuse people to think it as part of the article.

My exact thoughts, though they do say they have 3 concepts going...

Also, they are (of course) looking at this world wide too, so this might not just be a WDW thing eventually.

And what instantly recognizable things do you pull from the PatF to put into the rooms?

I think any theme really needs to resonate with fantasy or escapism to work and needs easily identifiable icons. There could be peter pan type themes with queues from neverland and fairies... or cinderella royalty things (which they've already done in the dream suite)... etc.

The harder part is choosing if you really want to tie the room theme to the hotel theme... that really narrows things a bit. You could take some existing like the poly or GF and instead of doing Disney character themes... do extreme authentic.

I hate to even suggest this out loud - but isn't Lilo and Stitch set in Hawaii? Does anyone think it's possible that they would make the slobbering little bugger the subject of rooms at Polynesian Village? They seem to love putting him on everything else.

Actually, I'm thinking the newest room refurbs might have something to do with the Fantasyland refurb OR Alice in Wonderland. Those are my guesses.

^^ Oh I hope they don't. Polynesia is more than just Hawaii.

Being really optimistic here - maybe these rooms will go in the site of the Legendary Years at Pop Century!

I am not exactly optimistic about this. These rooms are not themed in the traditional Disney sense, they are decorated with a theme. These rooms are not about making one feel as if they have entering a world, but look more like a model for a line of Disney Store merchandise.

I agree with you, but if they follow what they did with the Caribbean, and only use one section for the themed rooms, then I don't mind as much. That way I can have my choice of staying in a traditional room, while other, if they want, can stay in the themed ones.

I'm liking this idea! Great for kids- GREAT. If it keeps them in the room so they don't get bored the better for the wallet

Anyone got pics of the Nemo rooms at Caribbean Beach Resort? I've only seen Pirate rooms.

I could see Alice rooms at the Grand Floridian or Jungle Book at the AK Lodge.

Allears does. It's the Martinique rehab room pictures. Much more subtle.
