Good morning, son
In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
It was pain
Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...
Hey, Micechatters, I am SEEKING YOUR HELP in finding a picture of a sign from Walt Disney World's Polynesian Resort that says "NEWS FROM CIVILIZATION." I'd love to either find and buy the original (budget permitting) or else get a picture and re-create it. It was a newsstand and bookstore on the ground floor of the lobby, later called "News From Polynesia" and reportedly located where the Wyland Gallery is now.
And, to contribute to the photos and ephemera, here is a picture of the old Adventureland Veranda at WDW, where you could enjoy Key Lime Pie while watching the Swan Boats float by. (The retaurant and the boats are both now extinct.)
(I've never visited Disneyland Resort, Tokyo Disney Resort, Disneyland Resort Paris, nor Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, so don't be fooled when I pretend to know what I'm talking about. [But I'm pretty good with the information, if I do say so myself. And you can hit me all you want with Walt Disney World.])
I love the Discovery Island photo. When I first visited the Walt Disney World resort, as a kid from a small town in Idaho, this was my favorite part of our vacation. To me it was a quite space away from the crowds, yet it was full of disney magic, and it was a great place to get close to animals.
