(I've never visited Disneyland Resort, Tokyo Disney Resort, Disneyland Resort Paris, nor Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, so don't be fooled when I pretend to know what I'm talking about. [But I'm pretty good with the information, if I do say so myself. And you can hit me all you want with Walt Disney World.])
Thank you SO much for these photos - for the life of me I just can't remember that Dreamflight attraction!!
If you have more photos, I anxiously await them..
especially if you have any Tapestry of Nations ones..
thanks again!

Thanks for the great pics of that mural. I was going to look for mine but yours are much better. I think this was in the waiting area for The Walt Disney Story film, right? I loved this enough when I went in 1979 as a 7 year old that I had my picture taken in front of it. I see they kept it updated until at least 1986 (The Great Mouse Detective seems to be the most recent addition in your picture.) It's too bad you can't see it any more.
One thing though. Looking at it as an adult, I think a lot of the figures look a bit off. They are kind of flat and a lot of them have the wrong color scheme. It's still great to see all the characters in one place though. Maybe someday they'll update it and fix the color problems and we'll be able to view it again. I won't hold my breath but it would be nice.
Awesome thread!! Thank you for including WDW in the ephemera series!
Correct. The mural was right before you went into the theatres for the Walt Disney Story attraction (the theatre the mural is by is blocked off now and is part of a CM only area, but the other theatre was more recently being used showing old Silly Symphony cartoons way in the back of the Expo Hall (a great way to beat the heat and relax for awhile in the summer.
I'd give almost anything to be able to see that mural in person and get some photos of it. My faves on there are Tod & Copper from The Fox and the Hound (my all-time fave Disney movie).
The colors seem off because that was the original color schemes that were used for the characters in books. If you find any of those old hardcover books with various Disney stories you can see the same thing. I don't know when it changed but I do know that is how they looked when I was a kid anyway.
Not sure if that helps you. LOL
Here is a pic of those books, you can pick them up at most thrift stores or garage sales now a days.
