Re: WDW: Old Photos and Ephemera Thread

That mural is pretty neat, never got to see it with my own eyes in person I fear seeing as I've been to WDW a total of three times with a lot of space in between.

Here we go with today's images:

Easter Parade at the Magic Kingdom. Poor live bunnies, being stuck with that rather terrifying costumed character and random creepy bunny children....

    Journey Into Imagination at night.

    Tomorrowland looking all....concrete-y.

A rather sad image, this, actually, given the fact Jim Henson passed away not terribly long after signing with Disney.

This image was labeled as being the Melvin the Moose Breakfast Show, playing at Fort Wilderness
when the spooks have a midnight jamboree....

Easter Parade? Cause of death: WDW's cost-cutting, I assume.

Ephemera literally means: lasting a day... it normally refers to collateral that is for day use, material such as pamphlets, newspaper cuttings, advertising brochures, how-to-vote cards, menus.

Re: WDW: Old Photos and Ephemera Thread

The Easter parade used to be broadcast every year and ended with dozens of women dressed in colorful hats and hoop skirts. I think they may have been called the Magnolia Trail Maidens. The two songs I remember them singing every year were of course Easter Parade and Put on Your Sunday Clothes from "Hello Dolly"

Ephemera is anything that is collectible today that was never meant to last. This mainly means things made of paper. Often people in the antiques field look down on these items but it is a growing field of collectibles, especially for Disneyphiles.

Re: WDW: Old Photos and Ephemera Thread

Ephemera tends to be postcards, brochures, menus, single photographs, etc etc...paper goods of a varied and generic nature.

That is the first I had ever heard of it, with that single image in a WDW guidebook from back when it was just Magic Kingdom and Epcot.

Long lines and no shade for the Haunted Mansion...looks delightful!

Mickey Mouse hot air balloon over Epcot

That super friendly, not at all xenomorph from the Aliens films visits guests on the Great Movie Ride

Those aliens freak me out. I can't watch during that scene. They're so close!
