Fort Wilderness DVC plans - leaked

This has been floating around other boards, so I thought I would bring it here. Apparently, these plans for the rumored DVC in Fort Wilderness have been found. We talked about this a while ago about the Buffalo/Wilderness Junction theme coming back, but this might be proof.

This came about while talking about the relocation of the horse barn apparently, which is also in the plans.

What's interesting about the plans is that 1-some buildings are located on the lake, so does this mean some land reclamation is planned? and 2-another member of a different board said these plans look to be only part of the picture, since the rest seems to be below what is currently shown.

Is that little peninsula the old River Country property? I heard it was to be demo-ed for this.

    That would be cool.

Probably would have an expensive nightly rate attached to it.

I'm not an expert on this area, but I believe that area is where the beginning of River Country was. Not sure how far it goes, but looks like it to me too.

That would be a great way to use the old river country area! Exciting news as a DVC member

I hope they do something original and unique with this DVC resort. It would seem too redundant if they just make it Wilderness Villas pt Deux.

I like the over water idea...it could be like Treehouse Villas.

Of course, the *purpose* of an overwater bungalow is to go down the steps and straight into the Tahitian lagoon: http://www.tahiti.hotel-pictures.com...-bungalow2.jpg (my honeymoon on Bora Bora was AWESOME!)

There would be no swimming at Disney...

I believe he may be referring to the massively overbuilding of hotels at Disneyland Paris. Eisner ordered several, huge, enormous capacity hotels at the park's inception which they have been struggling to fill ever since - one of the biggest and most significant drains on the resort's resources.

There are an awful, awful lot of hotel rooms at WDW. Like - loads.

But KingEric may have been referring to something completely different.

Why do they insist on building more and more hotels? Is there really any need for them? As far as I can tell, there are plenty of rooms, perhaps too many. Yes, there'll be a bit more of a rush to the parks once FLE is done and all other walls come down, but not enough to fill all the hotels to capacity, I should think.

Re: Fort Wilderness DVC plans - leaked

The overbuilding issue mostly applies to DVC in my opinion. Do that many people invest in Disney World timeshares? Really? Eventually it's gonna get to the point where it's gonna be 50% hotel rooms and 50% timeshares.

I dont mind overbuilding when they're restoring old closed down places like the Treehouse Villas.

Unfortunatly DVC had already surpassed their grand peak of overkill when they built that massive Bay Lake Tower pretty much destroying the value and significance of the Contemporary. There's no way in heck that BLT needed to be that tall. It would've a lot more pleasing to have there had the tower been shorter than the Contemporary and retained the Contemp's trapezoid structured shape.

Okay sorry for being off topic. But yeah I think Disney is investing waaay too much than necessary in DVC.

Re: Fort Wilderness DVC plans - leaked

As a DVC member, I do support more DVC buildings because theoretically it means that it'll be easier to get into the other buildings.

And each DVC sets aside cash rooms so anyone can stay there. They aren't just "timeshare" buildings.
