    Fastpasses in Disneyworld...

After reading one of the unoffical guides to WDW, I get the impression I have to use the fastpasses within the return times listed on the passes (unlike in DL, where you can use it on that date any time after the first time posted). Is this true? Thank you.

Not true. You can use it just the same at DL. I have done it often. However, on some more poluar attractions I believe the CMs might enforce the policy

    I totally agree with yoyoflamingo.

Because I consider myself a "student" of WDW and because I'm generally a pain in the rump, I've often made it my business to talk to Attractions CMs if they're not too busy. With the exception of one single individual out of more than about 50 that I've spoken with over the years, they all say that they are trained to allow expired same-day FASTPASSes. This is across all 4 theme parks. They are trained to allow them. Now, there could possibly be times and places when they are instructed to enforce the FASTPASS return window (famously at Soarin'), but such instances are the huge exception rather than the rule.

Yep. Disneyland Resort parks, Walt Disney World parks, and even Tokyo Disney Resort parks all follow the same policy in regards to "expired" same-day FastPasses.

However, any description of FastPass will say to return within the one hour window. They just won't say that it is required to return within the one hour window, or you can't ride.

    Wording makes a big difference!

Is that all from personal experience? I have seen it repeatedly reported that Tokyo Disney Resort is the only one that actually enforces both ends of the Return Time. From experience I know who can add Disneyland Resort Paris to that list.

I never saw the end time enforced at WDW.

It's a good thing too, as I actually find it harder to stick to that window in WDW.

At Epcot for example, you might find yourself halfway around World Showcase when your Test Track fastpass becomes valid, and can't make it back before the end time. At the show-centric Hollywood Studios, it's easy to miss your window because you're watching a lengthy show.

Yes. From personal experience I can tell you that Tokyo allows "expired" same-day FastPasses just like the USA parks do.

This is correct. Fast Passes for shows are enforced since there is a limited amount of seating for each show, therefore, a limited amouint of fastpasses available. A theater holds only so many people. If you get a fastpass for a particular show and show time that means you have a place for that show. Not using it for the designated show means someone can't see the show. If you missed the show, then sorry, stand by line for you with the hope you will get in.

You can't have a days worth of fastpasses all showing up for the final show of the day.

Personally, I think fastpasses should either be eliminated or the time frame enforced altogether.

Unless I'm mistaken, DHS doesn't offer FastPass for any of its shows.

Day 1 of on the job training for attractions has part of the spiel stating that guests may return any time after the first time printed on the FP for the remainder of that day as it is company policy.

Are you referring to the passes for shows only or fastpasses in general? Because if you're talking about FP in general, I'd have to ask why? Last month was the first time I ever tried using them after the expired time and I have to say I can't see what difference it made. I've always used them during the exact assigned time in the past (in fact, I spent a great deal of my day reassuring one of my brothers that we would, in fact, be allowed in the FP line past the expiration time)and I didn't notice a change to the length of time waited. I think most people don't have any idea that they can do it - which may be keeping the numbers low. I found it really convenient, for example, for rides in the parks where there are fireworks displays at night. I could go in the morning, ride the rides, grab a fast pass for Soarin' or something, leave the park, go do something else, come back early for Illuminations and ride Soarin' one more time for the day - no stress or worry of missing the big show while standing in line - and the FP's don't run out. I asked a CM at Soarin' and they informed me that it extends to EMH as well.

Like Voyage of the Little Mermaid? How about the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular? Or maybe Lights, Motors Action Extreme Stunt Show? Ha ha ha...

Sorry kid, you might be a little mistaken. No hard feelings though.

Indy hasn't had it for some time now. Just wasn't working for that show so it has been gotten rid of.
