True Colors Slide Show @ Hista

You may remember that Honey I Shrunk The Audience at Epcot in WDW was at one time preceded by the "True Colors" slide show. I enjoyed it so much that after "True Colors" was pulled from its theatre, I tried to buy it, and got some nice replies about it, but was unsuccessful in my attempt. I would like to know whether anyone ever filmed or videotaped it during its run at WDW. Please reply either to this thread, or privately if you wish. I am sure it's probably a copyrighted work, and I'm not asking anyone to do something illegal, but if there's a copy out there, I'd like to know about it. Thank you very much, and I'll look forward to reading and receiving replies.

    Disney's official response:

THERE IS NO TRUE COLORS FILM. IT NEVER HAPPENED. YOU DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING. IT WAS ALL IN YOUR IMAGINATION BECAUSE YOU WERE IN THE IMAGINATION INSTITUTE. HAVE A MAGICAL DAY.

    Yeah, I remember it.
    Everyone always clapped after it.

    It was alright to me.

This is what I remeber from my experience with the True Colors Pre-show:

    Celebrate your true Colors
    Take Pictures
    Celebrate your true Colors
    Share memories
    Celebrate your true Colors
    Buy Kodak Film
    & Repeat.

    Product placement rocks!!

I remember it well, as it wasn't a film - it was one of the last great presentations to use multiple slide projectors. In my early AV days I was involved in many of these, and I've got mixed feelings for their demise. They were really a major pain to coordinate, program and keep running smoothly. The slightest thing (a bent slide, a cranky projector feed) could totally muck up the show. But there was a feel to them when done right that you just can't duplicate with any other medium. I'll be interested to see if anyone has a camcorder recording, as I miss that show, too!

I still cringe over the way they ruined Cyndi Lauper's song by using it to hock camera film.

I wish I did videotape it. I liked it so much more than the current preshow. And although I like Phil Colin's version, I really liked this film's version of the song.

I guess I've never understood this concept that using a song for commercial purposes is a sellout on the artist's part. If it's done well, if they preserve the sense of the original, then why not? Most musicians are in it for the business of it all just as much as the artistry. If they can pocket an extra 100 grand for licensing for a product (and for an ongoing show like in a theme park, that might even be on the low side), I say it's money well earned.

Yeah, I back that up. I'm pretty fond of Kodak's new marketing campaign. I'm not talking about the new "True Colors," but the ones that are in movie theatres, tv, and on their website. The whole "museum" campaing. Both versions are completely cinematic in every way...even if it makes me want to go buy film.

I remember that slide show and thought it was sweet. It made you feel good and made you think about the things we don't pay enough attention to. Like the landscapes, animals, and sometimes our own children. It was very touching... then it gets ruined by slapping Kodak at the end and pretty much stating, buy our products!
