    Tron coming to Test Track

Word on the street is that with the coming overlay of Test Track we are going to see some really nice TRON elements incorporated into the attraction.

Details are a bit sketchy on how much, where, etc.

Seems unlikely given we've been seeing little non-Tron upgrades recently, but seems entirely likely otherwise.

It is going to be a visual style influence, not necessarily story, or brand.

In that case, I could see the potential. Since RSR will have them beat in the theming department, you can't really blame them for looking for a way to spruce up TestTrack.

The theme is likely to be more like World of Motion (no more "testing" - I wonder if they'll change the name of the ride?), and I've also heard of Tron-type elements added (without the Tron brand or story itself). No idea what that means. Lightcycle type styling on the existing cars?

Well darn. I was looking at TRON for a reason to finally enclose that last speedy climax through backstage magic.

That would look cool at night to see the blue light streaks when the cars are on the outside track.

That I can support! But I don't think it needs a "Disney" appliance attached to be a good attraction. Something more along the theme of World of Motion - although obviously they wouldn't rebuild an old attraction - would be good, too. The motion and lights could be good.

There is a picture circulating on another board of the new Test Track logo patch for the CM uniforms- sponsored by Chevrolet. It's still Test Track, though on the patch for the new uniforms it's inside the Chevy logo.

It'll be interesting to see how Tron-like the refresh will be. Rumors point to most of the changes to be Pre and Post show and queue.

Re: Tron coming to Test Track

Earliest rumors implied a re-do of most of the show scenes of the ride - maybe that was fan misunderstanding. Those "other board" rumors now say mostly pre-show and post-show alterations, so the ride scenes would be intact. I guess it's still a Test Track after all.

One of the big changes is dropping the GM name and trademark everywhere, because big ol' GM is bad, went bankrupt, gov't bailout, poor management.

But Chevrolet is good, (like it is a different company?) and will playing the brand Chevrolet up with signs and symbols everywhere.

Chevrolet - good, GM - bad

^Chevrolet is a subsidiary of GM, so the General is still going to be sponsoring.

Surely if they're adding Tron elements the attraction should be sponsored by Encom?

Re: Tron coming to Test Track

It's going to be more than an overlay. Test Track will be torn out , while about all that will remain is the indoor track pathway (which is a carry over from World of Motion. A Tron theme would be awesome! Disney may well want to keep GMs sponsored underwriting, though. Disney has a knck for putting together unique business deals.
