Vegan Marketplace to Debut at Disney’s Epcot Park

Vegan Marketplace to Debut at Disney’s Epcot Park

    By
    Kimberly Budziak | August 2, 2012

The 2012 Epcot Food and Wine Festival will premiere Epcot theme park’s first ever all-vegan “Terra” kiosk.

At this year’s 17th annual Epcot Food and Wine Festival, taking place September 28 through November 12 at the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, FL, park guests and culinary crusaders will sample foods from the park’s first-ever completely vegan marketplace, Terra. The shop will offer vegetable-based protein products from Gardein as well as organic and sustainable wines from Paul Dolan Winery, with menu items including Trick’n Chick’n curry with basmati rice, Chili Colorado with chips and cashew cheese, a dairy- and lactose-free berry smoothie, and a chocolate cake with passion fruit sorbet and coconut foam.

Bring vegan food options to all the parks!

But this sounds amazing, makes me wish I lived in Florida instead of California for a bit

It doesn't sound all that appetizing to me. I think I'll stick to chicken and real cheese.

So, is this just a temporary stall for the Festival? 'Cause I'd eat there year-round.

This is nice to see. There aren't enough vegan choices anywhere.

And I'm not just talking Disney, I'm talking everywhere.

Same here. It'll be interesting to see how well the WDW audience responds to this.

Love this idea! I'm surprised DLR didn't get this first considering the health craze on this side of the country.

I'd just like to point out that "Disney's Epcot Park" has to be the worst name for a place ever. What in the world is an Epcot Park, and where are the other ones, since Disney felt it was so important to single out this one as their's?
It bothers me when people selectively edit quotes to support whatever point they are trying to prove.

It's the park called Epcot, and Disney happens to own it.

im so jealous! WDW seems to have many more veg/vegan options already. they even have vegan ice cream at the parks. i hope they bring more of it to DLR.

but awesome they are trying new stuff out and making more health conscience people happy.

Re: Vegan Marketplace to Debut at Disney’s Epcot Park

I think this is a great idea! I really appreciate that the Disney parks, in general, are trying to be more vegetarian friendly. My boyfriend is a vegetarian and we went to Disneyland two years ago, Disney World last year, and Disneyland again this year; there was such a huge change in his food options at Disneyland from two years ago to this year, although Disney World was still a bit of a struggle, especially at the sit-down restaurants that only offered one vegetarian option, and was often an option he was not excited about eating. I can't even imagine how much more limited the options are for those on a vegan diet.

Hopefully Disney is paying attention to the reaction to the Vegan Marketplace and will consider implementing similar options in all of the parks year-round!

ORWEN: I'm surprised it's taken Disney management so long to promote the vegetarian diet, too! I mean, with so many Disney characters being animals, it's long over due that Disney start realizing their guests have been eating too many of their friends for too long. Just the other day I was talking to Clarabelle Cow and she said she continues to be horrified by all the hamburgers they sell at the Disney theme parks. She's been worried for years that she may end up between somebody's buns, herself!

ORDDU: I think that's why the three little pigs have gone into hiding for the past few years, too, because they don't want to become someone's pork chops.

ORWEN: If all us Disney characters had our way, there wouldn't be ANY meats on the menu's at ANY Disney theme parks. You should NEVER eat elephants you know. Right Dumbo?

The Vegan burger they have at the Carnation Cafe is actually really tasty, my husband was so excited that he actually had something to eat that hadnt had to be customized.
