Tips for being chosen as the rebel spy

Hello, I have traveled numerous times on Star Tours this trip to WDW. What are somes tips on being featured as the Rebel Spy? When do they take your photo? I am out of ideas other saying hey pick me! Thanks.

I heard that they will never choose someone who wears glasses, because of the possible reflection. I believe the photo is taken around the time of the safety spiel, just before going into the simulator. So put your head up and take off your glasses during that time. The rest is luck.

That's not true. I've been picked before, and I wear glasses

Yesterday, I finally got to be the spy twice! They got me smiling and facing forward. After being on the ride so many times this week I knew it was a possibility, but once I was up there I was still totally surprised. It looks like everyone in your group gets their photo taken with them not knowing it. So I guess everyone could be the spy at some point. Now Disney needs to sell the photos just like other rides.

Exactly when is the photo taken. Is it while you're in the simulator buckling up, or before you get on?

Still not sure. I know I was smiling at the CM after I buckled my belt. That must have been when my photo was taken.

I think it is automated. I don't think anyone chooses. I just think that the on ride system automatically takes it.

If it's automated ( any CM's here that can advice, please? ) then it's just a matter of knowing what the software that chooses a face is looking for. I would imagine all previous advice of "face up and smile" is pretty accurate whether chosen by a machine or live person.

A lot of Bothans died to bring you this advice.

It is not automated. And yes, every ride will have a rebel spy
