    Re: Carousel of Progress...or Nastiness!

When I was there we noticed the sad sad state of this attraction. The thing about this attraction is that it's super unique, but it's definitely time for it to go. There is really nothing futuristic in this attraction. I would also like to point out that all of Tomorrowland is in pretty bad shape. The TTA was really in disrepair!

NO! No, no, no! This has always been a favorite ride and it can't go! We already lost The Country Bears. At this rate all Disney will be is a bunch of new thrill rides with no "Disney Magic" at all.....

Looks exactly like it did last Feb...hate to say it but they should I either fix it up and refurb it, or tear it down...leaving it up as is is a big slap in the face

I agree with this. Either fix it and make it better, or just get rid of it.

They're both classics, people are still crying about the loss of the Peoplemover in Anaheim, so I wouldn't bring the wrecking ball in just yet. The cars still look reasonably futuristic and there aren't many systems like it in cities. I do think however it could use some of the projection tech that TT 2.0 uses. The transitions into old 70s buildings would be more impressive with some sort of "warp" effect or some sort of of holographic map. As for CoP, yeah it needs to be phased out or moved into a bigger theater, the AAs look dated, the theaters are pretty bare, the seats are cheap and it doesn't showcase anything new. Don't get me wrong, I love CoP, I'd absolutely to see it it upgraded or at least well maintained but each year the ride because more of a relic from a time long gone. As to what to do with the building, half of it is empty since AAA left and they could definitely build a dark ride in there. Plus, it's connected to the utilidoor which is a big perk for employees.

It astounds me that management even dare to let any attraction get into such a mess.

    Words fail me.

Not only do the DARE to deliver a product like that... they DARE to accept a surprise fastpass, like it is a special gift that has extra value.

Garsh darn it! this attraction is on a slippery slope to "Yesterland," Golly Gee, when they need to entice guests with "Fast Pass" to get numbers up, and they dont go "up", it could spell DOOM... Execs will do what they do best and crunch numbers and put it on the chopping block...

I don't understand why the CM's working the attraction at closing are not required to do a cleaning check list every night. The dirty doors, entry way, seats, and dust should all be cleaned at closing. I am required to clean my station before I get to go home, why can't Disney require the CM's to do the same? This really upsets me. Poor management is leading to poor upkeep and dirty down right disgusting conditions. It's even more upsetting when they blame the attraction for the poor attendance instead of the management who caused the poor attendance.

Well there are plenty of Checklists that CMs are supposed to complete at the start and end of every shift. But at this point who knows what Checklists have been lost to time.

I think people here on Micechat are putting their judgement on emotion and nostalgia. The COP just doesn't resonate with the majority of people as it once did. I'm sure if we could have the numbers from this attraction, it would reflect exactly this. I would say put money into it and refurbish the attraction to it's former glory, but I have my doubts that it would entice people to ride it. I'm not saying put a thrill attraction in its place, but we need something that will attract people. I'm 24, I love history, I love Disney, and I think this attraction is just ok.
