Re: Bob Iger sent letter by Congress on MyMagic+
Well the CEO Bob Iger since 2011 has sold over 3 million shares, and only has a little over 1 million shares of Disney stock left in the company
Robert Iger and Other Disney Insiders are Selling their Shares - DISCA, NWS, SNI, TWX, DIS - Foolish Blogging Network
Disney's Iger Sells 1 Million Shares to Net $17.9 Million - Bloomberg
It seems that a lot of the top brass at Disney are selling their shares.

Some of that stock is not worth holding because it has a set price that it can be sold for, options. Also Disney's stock is at a peak, highest price ever, so profit taking is common.

Wouldn't it be magical if preventative maintenance. Heck, how about just plain old repairs was as common as profit taking....

The reason they're so confused is because they didn't do they're homework before heading to the parks. It's actually a useful system as long as people don't abuse it and know how to use it properly.
Re: Bob Iger sent letter by Congress on MyMagic+
Every system will be gamed. People are always looking for an edge if they're too cheap to just hire an hourly Disney escort to smooth their way through the parks.
And it's not the guests fault if there's a learning curve that needs to be navigated, is it?
Re: Bob Iger sent letter by Congress on MyMagic+
Not being an American myself, I don't think it is my place to criticise your Congress (probably not informed enough to do so anyway). But I must say that I have mixed feelings about this letter send to Iger. From what I came to understand only a minor part of the questions, if not all of them, were not already answered on official Disneysites. Therefore this letter only resulted in (unnecessary) negative publicity for the Walt Disney Company and their services. Don't get me wrong, if Disney (or any company for that matter) tried to cross the line with their privacypolicies the/any government involved should step in, but one should expect that they would do their research before rushing in...
Re: Bob Iger sent letter by Congress on MyMagic+
Al Lutz hit it smack on target with today's update:
Quote:
The elephant in the room on all of these long range plans however is the NextGen program, publicly marketed as MyMagic+. MyMagic+ has had a rocky start in Florida, with both hardware and software problems cropping up in the parks in the first few weeks and a surprising dustup in the press between Bob Iger and Congressman Ed Markey over allegations of inappropriate use of children’s information with the RFID enabled wristbands that are the backbone of MyMagic+. (Apparently Iger forgot what happened with the Disney’s America project when Eisner snipped back in a similar tone.)
Disney has now budgeted more for MyMagic+ than they spent on fixing DCA over the last five years, so the stakes are very high. What could derail the expansion plans on both coasts is MyMagic+ falling flat on its face with customers when it finally goes live this spring. There are still dozens of questions and pitfalls, all issues that front-line Cast Members and management identified as weak links in the system right off the bat.
The problem with MyMagic+ is that it was dreamed up by Burbank execs who have absolutely no experience working in a theme park, and who have shown very little interest in getting out into the field and learning the business even after they were assigned to the program that would remake it. The Achilles heel to any new park initiative is the front line troops in the operations departments who will be working with the program and trying to sell it to the customers. So far, very little input has been sought from the front line Cast Members, and to make matters worse the public explanations of the program have been overly vague. For every answer offered to customers about MyMagic+, there are a dozen Cast Member questions still unanswered.
It's not technology that will sink MyMagic, it's corporate arrogance and denial.
Re: Bob Iger sent letter by Congress on MyMagic+
I don't know if Thomas Staggs calling MyMagic+ 2.0 "Famcuffs" is the best name, but it's a step up from "Limited Magic." Here's a link to what we can look forward to!

P.S. On a podcast with Dusty, Al Lutz said that bracelets could shock those taking flash photos on attractions.

I wouldn't say that. Disney does what it likes, and that doesn't necessarily jive with what the public wants.

I'm not a fan of this at all. There's enough radiation going around- don't need anything more.
