The video doesn't show it well, but the Yeti is appoximately 18 feet tall.

    Pretty cool!

I haven't been too impressed with so many Disney theme park projects of the last 10 years ... but this is one of the classic "E Ticket" caliber we are use to seeing in a "Disney" park.

    THAR BE SPOILERS AHEAD..............

    MAYTEES.......................

I'm trying to figure out exactly how many "show room" scenes there are. Near the beginning of the ride .. there's that one piece with some music .. and a little visual ... as the chain pulls people up.

Then the yeti himself ... and toward the end of the ride ... all I could make out is some yellow lighting .. and sounds of the yeti ...... So I take it there are primarily 2 "show" scenes.

There are lots of dark tunnels ... and naturally .. no camcorder can pick up everything .... So, I wonder how much, if anything, is seen in those "supposedly" completely black-out tunnels?

The icecapped sections toward the top ..... some of the wide curves ... It all seems like one mighty fun cross between the Matterhorn and Big Thunder Mtn. Railroad.

    Thanks for sharing!!

    Re: Expedition Everest Video

OK spoilers, but I got some comments to make....

Anybody else think the Yeti's shadow is a little too animated? watching the movements it almost looks like Stitch on steroids ripping up the tracks.

Also, I think they should of used more rock elements surrounding the mountain. From the distance it looks just like a lump sitting in the middle of nowhere, like Ayers Rock. It adds a little bit of akwardness when the tracks are on ground level. If the base of the mountain was built out more with a few smaller peaks it would have looked better - would've had the majestic feel to it like the Matterhorn at DLR. But overall, it looks like a wicked ride - would be nice if they could transplant it to Anaheim.

The animated Yeti shadow looks like Sulley from 'Monsters Inc'. Especially during the growling part...

I love the tracks that are all torn up.

The ride does looks like an elongated Matterhorn. The glacier walls look like the inside of the Matterhorn.

It doesn't seem to be too long of a ride...

As was said before, there aren't a lot of ride events on EE. Or at least it seems that way from both videos... But I guess on the Matterhorn there aren't many either.

I can't wait to ride it!

I actually liked the Animated Yeti.

For all of the talk about the 18 foot Yeti you sure don't see him much.

The ride seemed pretty long to me, coaster wise.

    SPOILER!

Going by video length, the ride appears to be around 2:30 minutes. It seems like the track switch sections take at least 15-20 seconds each, so that more or less shaves at the MOST a minute off of the ride time, so somewhere around 1:30.

I agree with that one. The mountain also looks sort of funny from across the water... again, like a lump in the middle of nowhere.

It DOES look neat tho when you are actually ON the ride (at least, it seems that way from the video).

    Question, in spoilers:

    Spoiler
What's this talk about an 18 foot yeti? I just see the animated yeti and then that white blob hanging from the ceiling at the very end, which does not look like 18 feet anything. Is there another yeti somewhere?

I'll reserve judgment for when I go on in October, but from the video it looks like lots of fun but not as cool/pretty as the Matterhorn. Maybe I'm just partial to the original animatronic yeti hehe

    Re: Expedition Everest Video

The problem with these videos is that they never do the rides justice...I will reserve judgement until I actually ride (and I'm sure there will be some tweaks to the ride before April). The video was a bit underwhelming for me, but I am sure there is more to it...the $100,000,000 had to go somewhere. From the video, it looked like the Matterhorn's tunnels were better themed and had more show scenes...

    Re: Expedition Everest Video

The Yeti looks smaller because of the video... you have no real view of how big he is... notice my King Kong comment above. Well, he's not as big as King Kong, but Mighty Joe Young is probably a good size comparison... he's much bigger when you see him in the ride. LOL He's like reaching over you and his arm is probably twice as fat as my head. He's a big guy! Just doesn't look it. Ha!

Oh, look at my avatar... "Where did the walls go?!" LOL
