We are going on 3 years of the Captain EO tribute in Epcot, so when do we want to wager it will end?
My money is on a 5 year run? Any other bets?

Is this another complaint thread?
I hope it stays for at least another year. I want to see it.

I'll give it 1 to 2 years, so they can use the space for the next big thing as TT relaxes.
Hopefully not another day, I was embarrassed to sit in the theater and actually watch that. it wasn't even one of my top 5 michael jackson music videos. plus i never agreed with the whole idea that Disney was trying to cash in on a person's death. wish honey i shrunk the audience had just stayed around until they could finally find a new vision for the Imagination pavilion (Which I hope is WDW's priority #1)
I have issues with Michael Jackson being presented in a family environment, given the problems him and little kids had together.

Wile it's not the same Captain EO because all theater effects couldn't come back, it's OK for a trip down memory lane but probably time to give it a rest.
The thing I hope they don't do is try to turn it into another 3D or 4D movie - we already have three more on property - honestly, why add another especially since the picture at my local Cineplex is getting even crisper clarity and about as interactive these days.
As to what would replace it I don't know. I hope it's replaced but not sure what they could do there especially since water surrounds most of the building.
I hope at least a few more years. It was one of my favorites at EPCOT back in the 80s and it's still a favorite now. Shoot... I like Captain EO so much I got my aunt to make an EO costume for my Duffy. It's 80s cheese at its finest and I'm perfectly ok with that. Sure not all of the original in-theatre effects came back, but they did pretty good coming up with some new ones to take their place. Watching Captain EO takes me back to when EPCOT was in its glory days and I'm not ready to give that up just yet.
Can this please not turn into a "Michael Jackson: Innocent or Guilty?" thread? I have seen far too many of those.
Now, I personally love Captain EO in all it's cheesyness. I was not around to see it during it's first run, so I was beyond thrilled when it came to the parks. Bringing it back was a great way to honor one of the world's most talented musicians. Of course, I am a huge MJ fan, so I am a little biased. I know not everyone likes the video, and as sad as it would make me, I would understand the need for a change. However, if they stopped it and just left the theater empty, or played trailers for new movies (like they're doing at California Adventure with Muppet Vision), I would not be okay with that. They need to actually put some effort into finding a suitable replacement.
It'll stay until George gets out of his MyMagic+ chains... I mean schooling, and he takes a look at the pavillion.

I trust you J.J.
I don't agree with anything in Epcot moving backwards. I was fine with EO at Disneyland, but at Epcot, that kind of thinking goes against everything Epcot stands for.

ORDDU: My sisters and I never cared a thing for Captain EO when it was brand new in the 80's--let alone now. We wish it had never come back and can't wait until it's long gone for good.
ORGOCH: Got that right! Nothin' stinks more than Captain B.O.!!
Captain EO is a fun bit of nostalgiam, but it's always been clear that it was a stop gap measure, something to simultaneously capitalize on the renewed interest in Michael Jackson and attract more guest attention than the stale Honey, I Shrunk The Audience. In both cases it's succeeded, but I think it's time to move on to something new.
Unfortunately, I don't think it's a priority for Disney at the moment. EO is still getting good attendance, and they would rather slap a scaled-down Cars Land onto DHS than come up with new ideas to bring new life to the parks.
Until they need the space for something else.
Great new article on EO at Passport to Dreams Old and New that summarizes my feelings very well:
