    Favourite WDW Hotel and Why?

I've been eager to see all the different hotels in the resort. Some are more favoured than others, swankier and more pristine, some more family oriented and true to a theme. What's your choice and why?

Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge will always win.

They're the only hotels at WDW that truly transport you to a new place. Every other hotel in the resort just doesn't do that.

While I like the deluxe hotels, I just can't see spending 300 to 400 bucks per night on a room. I'm a moderate guy, and as such I really enjoy the Coronado Springs Resort, with its buildings spread out around the beautiful Lago Dorado lake.

Beach club is always the choice for me:

-best location in the entire resort
-being basically right beside the great attraction of the board walk while staying at (arguably) a superior hotel
    -best resort pool
-and of course Beaches and Cream

I agree with goofy donald 100%! That whole area is unprecedented IMO. Wilderness Lodge comes in second.

Beach Club and Animal Kingdom Lodge are my favs, from the ones ive stayed in. My last visit, I split time in those two. I did some exploring, and I think my next visit, will be at the Coronado Springs.

My favorite I have stayed at is the Dixie Landings. Yes, I still call it that. Its theme was beautiful and relaxing. You felt a world away, even though you were right there in Disney World. The rustic look of the food court and Boatwright's Dining Hall were beautiful and convenient. The river running through the middle and the ponds throughout made such wonderful theming.

My favorite that I haven't stayed at is the Wilderness Lodge. I love walking through, wandering around and exploring this wonderland. Beautiful architecture and artwork throughout. I LOVE the woodwork. Again, the rustic, foresty atmosphere is relaxing and exciting, all at once.

    Mind you, I've stayed at
    Dixie Landings
    Coronado Springs
    Carribean Beach
    Port Orleans
    All-Star Movies

ALL of the Disney hotels I've stayed at were wonderful, and worth the time and money, imho.

I love the Contemporary for it's location. Magic Kingdom is my favorite of all the WDW parks. When I stayed at the Contemporary, I really enjoyed being on the Monorail line. It was easy getting every where else. The Hotel itself is fun to stay at. I love the hustle and bustle of the hotel. I know people some people like the quieter hotels. I stayed there back before the new DVC addition, but I'd love to stay there again. We had a room in the quieter Garden Wing, and could actually look out the window and see both the castle, and the monorail going by. It was really great. I often walked to Magic Kingdom early in the morning. I remember the night we watched the fireworks from the hotel, and also saw the electrical water pageant from the Contemporary Pier. If I ever scrape up enough money, I'd love to stay there again. I also enjoyed eating breakfast in the hotel before heading to the parks.

Wonderful response, you make a good case for the Contemporary, Barbaraann.

Re: Favourite WDW Hotel and Why?

Some people like the isolation of many of the other hotels, and I can understand that. I liked being in the middle of the action. Yet, you are definitely isolated from the real world.

I actually enjoyed all of the hotels that I stayed at, and if you asked my grandson who I often traveled with, he'd probably rave about the Beach Club and their Pool, or Port Orleans where he went Cane Pole Fishing.

I did love the two nights when I treated myself to The Grand Floridian. It is a great hotel. Definitely overpriced, but I did feel like I stepped back in time. I love their Lobby, and their grounds. It was a special two days.

Has anyone ever stayed in Fort Wilderness Campground? In a mobile home, in an RV, or in a tent? Are there Disney tents set up, or do they just rent out the camping spot?
