I would rather listen to nickelback than have Disney build AvatardLand.
AVATAR had no soul whereas, Harry Potter did. Harry Potter also had higher popularity all around the world. Universal have won this decade's attractions maybe, USO will be Orlando's signature resort for a while
I have been a part of many discussions here it; been pointed out the Avatar doesn't fit the theme of DAK. On the wiki page for DAK the dedication is what I listed below. Is that really it? If so then I am not sure how avatar doesn't fit the theme really. They can really make it memorable with lore of the Pandora and even relate their stories back to our Earth and teach us about conservation.
Disney's Animal Kingdom - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome to a kingdom of animals... real, ancient and imagined: a kingdom ruled by lions, dinosaurs and dragons; a kingdom of balance, harmony and survival; a kingdom we enter to share in the wonder, gaze at the beauty, thrill at the drama, and learn.
Michael D. Eisner, April 22, 1998
The imagined animals of Disney's Animal Kingdom have had a cultural reality. There was a time when they were considered very real. Even to this day the yeti retains such an understanding, even if only as a symbol. That is not the case with purely fictional creatures and places like Pandora. The park is also about us and our planet. Aliens and alien planets have existed before Avatar. John Carter's Mars would be equally as in appropriate. As would a Star Wars landscape or anything else involving animals of pure fantasy.
^your opinion only. Clearly Disney had a different opinion. That all said.... 2017??? Really?
Opinion but.... Avatar: the World of Pandora will fade off into greatness with the likes of Disney's American, Port Disney long beach, Russia and Switzerland Pavillions and many other simular fates within Disney history.
What a cop out way to kill a project. Instead of admit it is on hold or under reconsideration, just put an opening date that is so far way that
a) no one could possible be excited for it
b) it will be forgotten about long before this "opening year"
^your opinion only.
As with many others, I simply cannot get excited for Avatarland. I would much rather see Animal Kingdom with 7 lands, one for each continent. Each land could have real and imaginary animals suiting the local wildlife and legends. Here would be a place for a ride like Mystic Manor, and themeing like Tokyo Disney Sea's Lost River Delta (please bring Mystic Rhythms to the US!). And please, bring pandas!
Well I'm for one ecstatic that Avatarland is still coming, it's happening and I'll be there opening weekend in 2017. Or 2018 when it gets delayed a year.
I've been saying for awhile now that it is coming even though many wanted this project to implode in itself. I still think everyone should hold judgement until at least experiencing it in 2017, walking through it, riding the rides, seeing what Disney Imagineers can do with this idea, this concept.
I too still want the original Beast land with mythical creatures, the maze with the unicorn in the middle, the new "mountain" ride BUT I guess Universal will have to steal the idea and make it their own.
Harry Potter and its expansion will be built/rushed by 2014 and 3 years later I think Avatarland will make its mark after most here have been there and done Harry Potter's world a few times over ready to try out something brand new, 3 years later... in 2017.
