Cars Land, Star Wars Land confirmed for DHS ?

This probably falls into the gray area between the News and Rumor categories, but Robert Niles reported on his Theme Park Insider website this afternoon (west coast time) that several sources within the Disney parks management have confirmed to him that both a Florida-version of Cars Land and a brand-new Star Wars Land will be built at Disney's Hollywood Studios by 2018. This will re-make the Florida theme park in much the same way that Disney California Adventure was transformed during the past several years.

Several attractions will be closed to build the new expansions, but it's not certain exactly which ones, at least in the case of the Star Wars Land.

Oh how I hope this is true. If a Carsland though, I would love to see different attractions. But STAR WARS LAND. Well, there are no words if that truly happens!

I will believe when I see it. Diagon Alley was half way built when Universal announced potter. Heck Niles only got information on potter, after Amity closed, and was being demolished.

We can talk about bluesky disney ideas all day and night. But I will believe it when the bulldozers start working.

There are cranes at DHS this morning installing what appears to be the Death Star. I also see signs being installed for a meet and greet with Jar Jar Binks. ADRs for Cantina start next week.

It appears that the expansion would take out the area between Star Tours and the auto stunt show stadium, including the Muppet theater and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids play area. But I've also heard of consideration of going in the opposite direction, which would place the new land on the site of the Backlot Express restaurant and Indiana Jones stunt show theater. Given that the Indy theater's used for several other events throughout the year, and that both the Muppets and Honey I Shrunk the Kids attractions long ago passed the height of their popularity, I'm hearing more forceful arguments for the first option.
From the article, in the OP.

I have to agree with the first option, it makes sense that DCA and DHS could shutter both Muppets attractions at the same time.

and what a travesty that would be. cars has in no way the staying power and generational connection that the muppets will forever have. they deserve at the least an updated version of their current attraction if not a mini land of their own.

I know I've illustrated this point several times but it still just irks me that they could even fathom the possibility of a land dedicated to cars on top of a land dedicated to pixar films. is this really the depths we have sunk to? this is not an overly negative point, I will be one of the first to support disney and give their projects benefit of the doubt, the concept of what people are rumouring they are doing however in that prospective is just plain nonsensical and idiotic. lacking creativity also comes to mind slightly after the former two.

is it really that hard for them to make another pixar land other than Carsland? I have no problem with clones, its just that Carsland along with BVS is really what finally made DCA special and unique. To clone it even with new attractions would be one big slap in the face and a really lazy move. Why not make Paradise Falls, Monstropolis, or Metroville? Maybe even an indoor land themed to the great barrier reef from finding nemo.

Maybe they are trying to repurpose Catastrophe Canyon as part of the rockwork for the land? Maybe the cars will stop there and experience a series of catastrophes before continuing along Route 66?

Thumbs up Re: Cars Land, Star Wars Land confirmed for DHS ?

So Carsland, StarWarsland and Avatarland coming to WDW in the next few years. Yea I dont think Disney is too concerned about the Potter expansion, they seem to have a few big guns of their own. Once again, Universal always the bridesmaid, never the bride LOL #DisneyAlwaysWINS

    Good news for WDW!!

lol while the prospect of starwarsland is very cool, the amount of great stuff universal has built in recent years has DWARFED anything disney has accomplished in florida during the same span. all of the stuff above is merely rumored or in the far off future, and not at all guaranteed at the scale we picture in our minds. Universal has actually accomplished something, and while I will definitely miss amity and jaws (one of the greatest immersive theme park rides ever) I will give much more credit and hope to universal over disney at this point. at least all of their projects fit where they are going to go within reason, two of the three main rumours you listed above are terrible ideas to begin with.

If they're also expanding the Star Wars area, I'm thinking that any Cars area they do will be smaller than the DCA version.

As long as these lands are a) up to snuff in terms of visual storytelling, immersive sound/music, and fun easter eggs, and b) each get a new E-Ticket, I'll be very happy.

I'm worried that they'll pivot star wars land off star tours as the centerpiece, which would be disappointing, or that they'll clone Radiator Spring Racers for Cars Land. I hope they don't, and I'm tentatively optimistic right now.

Re: Cars Land, Star Wars Land confirmed for DHS ?

Star Wars Hotel Casino and Theme Park idea -BAC (old idea that recent discussion made me repost again)

Ok I've posted this in a few other places including Micechat -- Here it is again---my idea for a Star Wars Themed Vegas Hotel/Casino and theme park. Unfortunately Grand ideas fall flat when you have no artistic ability to draw the ideas in your head (Shank). Any so here is the basic idea. It incorporates a Disneyland type theme Park model (Go figure) --includes some pre-existing Star Wars Disney rides --and then just adds on the concept. Of course lacking Concept art (like I said my drawing ability --as demonstrated in my Skewer Baby artwork is severely lacking) so instead i will just include a few Star Wars pics from the web to hopefully give a little visuals to the ideas. (Hey at least I have a map for the parks layout.

    The Great Tiki Presents
Brad's old Star Wars Theme Park Idea

You could have a Hotel in the middle of the desert shaped like a giant landed Star Destroyer. The Hotel would be a Hotel and casino--that would be Star Wars themed and inspired --with Sabaac --of course at the time of my idea they didn't have Star Wars slots yet but now they do. (so bring on the slots)

You could even have Sabaac --gambling game in Star Wars books.

Behind the Hotel would be Theme park laid out like Disneyland with Mos Eisley as Main Street --with shops and Mos Eisley Cantina (of course the animatronic Bith Band like in the FAO Swartz toy store in Caesar's already had)

-Landspeeder rides down Mos Eisley instead of the firetrucks on Mainstreet.

Dexter's Dinner . Shops and aDroidBuilding place sponsered by LEGO

Off one side street of Mos Eisley would be the Jabba's Palace Lunch and dinner show.

For lunch and dinner --you would eat in Jabba's palace with Giant Animatronic Jabba overlooking the lunch and dinner show that could include all sorts of Star Wars themed entertainment al la dinner shows like Wild Bill's or Medieval Times. With Twilek servers and cool characters walking around. One part of the show would be Bossh walking in with Chewie like scene from movie and Hologram Luke scene from movie as well.
(Since it is Vegas they could even have a late night Adult only late night show as well with Topless slave dancers --and Slave Leia)

Also there is a fun interactive underground tunnels of Jabba's Palace walk through exhibit

Near Jabba's Palace would be a Test Track Style Podrace ride with indoor and outdoor sections

The Central Hub would instead of a castle be a giant Star Tours facility that would transport people to the other Planets (or lands if you will) --There would be of course walk by entrances for those not wishing to take the Star Tours Type rides to different destinations.

One Star Tours ride would drop you off at the Death Star --A Large building connected to Star Tours Facility where and three story building would house ---Death Star Laser Tag .

This section would also house X-wing and Tie Fight Simulator training

And an Imperial themed store and Throne Room Photo op in the Emperor's Chair

Of course one land would be Endor with an EwokVillage ----and as others have said and probably thousands have already thought of andSpeeder Bike Rollercoaster Ridethrough theforest ofEndor ---Think the side by side track coasters with trees as obstacles.

The Endor Village would of course have Ewok actors and Photo Ops. A C3PO Fireplace Storytime for children around a campfire al la Redwood Creek trail at DCA.

It would also have rope bridger and rope ladders for the kids to play in. Also on Endor would be a full Sacel Walk Through Mock up of the Millennium Falcon----think Toontown house walkthroughs--but the Millennium Falcon with Hologames on chess board.

Wicket's Restaurant--think Rainforest --made to look like you are dining in the trees --multi storied restaurant
And of course based on Wicket's Hang glider in Ewok moviesWicket's Soaring Over Endor -- which would fly past Walkers and imperial forest base ETC...

Another section would be Hoth where you would walkthrough Ecco Base ice Station on your way on your way to a dark ride --that would take you on a small transport through scenes from Hoth. The Hoth Ice TourCompany Indy style ride takes you past Rebels Fighting in bunkers----Through the legs of a giant At-At --and finally through a Wampa ice cave where you are nearly attacked by a Wampa.

There would be an Echo Base Store and restaurant . Photo Ops with a Tantaun.
One section would be the JediTemple ----Would haveJedi Training for the Younglings----Jedi dining -think The Magic castle in LA with a Jedi host does magic tricks during dining experience.
if technology improved you could havesimulated Lightsaber dueling game where you where headsets and battle WI style with lightsaber against alien opponents.

And of course the Jedi Council Yoda Photo Op

A love of Disney that sometimes borders on the edge of crazy ---but I'm okay with that

My idea for a Star Wars themepark was originally thought of as a Vegas hotel/ themepark before Disney purchased Lucasfilm......(so obviously the gambling aspect wouldn't fit in and since it will probably be just a land....nothing to this scale will ever be built).......But it sure is fun to wish and dream.........and i'll be the first in line to see whatever Disney comes up with.

ORDDU: My sisters and I certainly won't miss the Muppets if they go away. After all, the 3-D movie is grossly over-due for a change. But if they won't change it, then let it just go away. We have no problem with a cloned Carsland, either. But we'll have to wait and see how true all this news really is.
