What ever happened to the ON PROPERTY toll both radio info ?

In the 1970s and 1980s, there were those small brown road signs with white letters, along the entry towards the auto toll booth at the Magic Kingdom, with an AM radio station. If you dialed in on your car radio, you would here Disney characters discussing vacation options at the Magic Kingdom (and later EPCOT) such as parade times, fireworks shows, dining, park operating hours, etc

I'm not sure exactly when Disney phased this out, but it was always a thrill to listen in on our trip to WDW,
This was NOT the 1990s Radio Disney-esque station that you could pick up 100 miles away on the interstate. This was a property specific AM station for Disney Park information.

does no one here ave any information? Google s NOT my friend; I can't seem to find any online information, other than Radio Disney ?&$@?!!

    thanks!

I know what you're talking about, but I don't know what happened to it. I guess it was discontinued. But I remember once on WDW property you could set your radio to the specified AM frequency and there would be information about the parks, hotels and whatnot.

There is a video of it from 1986 that (partially) talks about the parks, but it's very limited. It starts at the 1:12 mark and ends at 3:04, and it often cuts, so there's no way it has everything, but it should provide an indication.
    My top favorite Disneyland attractions:

    1. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
    2. Pirates of the Caribbean
    3. Splash Mountain
    4. Mad Tea Party
    5. Peter Pan's Flight
    6. Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin

I definitely remember this as it was always something I loved to listen to as a kid when driving past WDW even if we weren't going there on vacation. I definitely remember it still running when MGM opened because we were taking a trip to Orlando but were not going to Disney. I asked my parents to let me listen to the station as we were driving down the interstate. The majority of the show was focused on the opening of MGM and all the great things it had to offer. My Dad got excited listening to the show and we changed our plans and went to MGM the next day.

MyDisneyExperience App on your phone has replaced it.

Say what you will, it's gotta be cheaper and easier to keep that up to date than having someone record all that information every day, plus you don't have to wait for the times for everything to hear what you want.

I get that it's something cool that was an exciting part of your trip... I always wondered why they didn't have an on prperty radio station that played Disney music, too

Well it looks like the radio adverts worked for KCNole's family. That's an interesting avatar though I don't think those look very good together. On the other hand, orange and blue look really good with a oval Gator with its mouth open looks really great. GATOR BAIT! 🐊🐊 (lol)

I used to listen to that radio feed from Jacksonville on down to Orlando. Loved it - reports from Walter Wonderful, jingles, just a bunch of stuff to get you in the mood for actually being IN the World!
