I'm not a CM actually. It was just a blurb I saw on tumblr and was curious to know more. I wish I was one though so I could know this all ready XD
Its 100% true, but to answer the question, it is a technology change, not a policy change. The policy is not changing. The new maingate passes were needed in order to allow for castmembers to be able to participate in MyDisneyExperience, Mymagic +, and Fastpass +.
With out getting into specifics, the new maingates do see better position to be close some loop holes the current maingates had. But the an admin or an OP can change the title from Rumor to news because it is news and it is 100% true that all WDW maingates are being replaced. Ask any castmember. Many Some already have the new ones.
How the new Main Gate Passes from WDW will work at DLR ?
Does DLR will change to new Main Gate Passes or how will work the old Main Gate Passes (from DLR) at WDW ?
Here I can answer this one. DLR has not RFID tec in our turnstiles yet so if a DLR CM gets his/her badge here it will not have the MM+ chip in it. This is the same for the Primer Pass for APers. But All CMs in Florida will need to switch to new passes with the RFID chip in it that is tuned to MM+. So when the person goes to Florida they will have to switch to the new card or not use the new program.
So will they issue DLR CMs regular paper tickets when they visit? I'll be going to WDW and staying at AKL in November. I kind of want to use the magic band, but I'm not gonna be picky about it if its not compatible with the DLR CM ID - or whatever ticket media they issue at guest relations to us Californians.
