    Re: Joshrzmeup's Trip Report!

"Disney Years" is adding the two numbers in your age together So, my mom was (is) 13 instead of 58 because 5+8 = 13

Among other things, some of the teenage girls costumes were just a bit too short, it's those sexy costumes that are pretty popular - if half of your butt is showing, tights or not - it's a no in my opinion.

Some people dressed up, some didn't - some just wore a halloween shirt and halloween ears. I saw a lot of little boy Pirates - probably got it done at the pirates league earlier that day. You can always do Mike and Sully - get a t-shirt of each of them, black pants and see what hats/ears disney store has online.

You can always "Disney Bound" as a costume, I saw a lot of girls doing that, but you can do and be anything! If you are brave enough, you can wear your pj's and messy curlers in your hair and look like you just got out of bed! I was desperate one year and I did that at school, lol.

    What does "Disney Bound" mean?

    I never heard of that.

I hope it's not with ropes and things like "bound" sounds. I know I am missing something. I'm 39 and pushing 40 and feeling old because I no longer know the "cool" things to do!

Disney Bound is like dressing as your favorite character - in more modern times using clothes and accessories you would associate with that character. Like for Ballroom Belle - for example. You would wear a yellow dress (or yellow top and yellow pants) (any size, length) with yellow shoes and maybe a ring or necklace that has a rose on it.

Or for Minnie Mouse - that's easy. Red and white polka dot dress and yellow shoes. Or Alice - blue top, white sweater, and maybe a necklace that's a key and a charm bracelet with a key or book or rabbit or a heart.

I have a blue and black striped dress that if I added a yellow belt or some yellow accessories, I could bound as Dory from Finding Nemo (a friend of mine pointed that out to me recently).
    Disney Bound

^Here is a good link that will give you some examples of what that is. I saw a lot of people doing that, adults and teens alike.

It's dressing disney, but not with a real or expensive costume and only disney fans would know, so you wouldn't stick out in a crowd.

    Re: Joshrzmeup's Trip Report!

Saturday was our last day We decided to make the most of it and do some park-hopping so that we could end our trip at MK using our fastpasses for Main Street Electrical Parade and Wishes!

We started the day at EPCOT so that my dad and I could ride Soarin again, this time without my mom. It's still my favorite ride.
We then went to Test Track, only to find a 40 minute wait and we were debating it when a gentleman came up to us and offered us his 3 fastpasses good for right then. He said that he and his family had to leave suddenly and couldn't use them. So, we thanked him and we got right on!

Note: never let an engineer and perfectionist design the car. Bad idea. He won't pay attention to the video explaining how to draw the body because he'll claim that he can already do it and then he'll screw up and use the next 2 minutes they allow trying to go back and re-do it, but finds out that it won't let you, so you take over really quick for the paint job while he debates the engine and such. Dad, it's for fun, not for real. It's ok, lol.

We then headed over to Animal Kingdom because we really wanted to ride Everest since it was closed the day before. It was a 30 minute posted wait, but really it was about 20 minutes. Even with Disco Yeti, I still love this ride. It's so neat.

We then decided to go over and finally get my picture with Aladdin and Jasmine. We waited about 15 minutes before they showed up, at which point, they cut off the line. I hate how to you have to be there almost 30 minutes early to get in line and wait and then wait more once the character comes out. I know it's hot and there are only certain time they are allowed out and for so long, but still.

My mom then convinced my dad to go on the Teacups with her, just to prove that he wouldn't get sick and that she wouldn't spin too much. After about 20 minutes of protesting, he finally went on it with her. She and I both missed the music in the area.

After a little bit of Christmas shopping for friends and my Nieces and Nephew, we headed over to DTD for our dinner reservations at Rainforest cafe! (this was mom's choice - she insisted).
The food was actually very good, I had the turkey wrap and I loved it! We all split the Volcano dessert and still didn't finish it because we were so full!

    Re: Joshrzmeup's Trip Report!

Now, for the Electrical Parade fastpass area - I have some gripes about it. I like how you view the castle, great views!! But, when you have throngs of people behind a simple rope, no matter how much you try to check bands, people will lie and cheat their way in when you turn your back. They check your bands when you enter off to the side of the Hub, but no matter hoe hard CM's try to patrol the area, people get it. One guy said, "I'm just going to take a picture of the castle." CM turns her back, the man motions to his family to come under and they kick other people's stuff (backpack, baby bag) off to the side so that they can stand there. The family was mad, but didn't say anything.

I got shoved from where I was standing by people with no bands wanting to get closer.

One guy pretended to not understand english when the CM was asking where his band was and explaining that he has to go back because this is reserved. But CM turns her back and he motions and whispers, in english, to his family to come on under. Once the parade starts, all bets are off. No CM's, no real sitting room because families in the front are standing up now, people making the area into a mosh pit. Not a fun experience. But, at least I got some nice pictures.

This was our view, no zoom needed:

    Re: Joshrzmeup's Trip Report!

Now, I admit, I don't take the best fireworks short, i'm usually too early or too late, but I still try.

So, for the Wishes pass, we were to meet in the Rose Garden. There was a short line to get in once the masses left the area so that we could actually move and walk over there from the hub.

I liked this area, you got a great view of the Castle, it was gated, so no one could sneak in and once it started, gate was closed with CM's guarding it. You got to sit (or stand if you were in the back) on the grass and it was just so relaxing. For awhile there, the skies were pretty threatening, but they held off, with the exception of some heat lightning that was still around.

Before the fireworks was the castle projection show, 'Celebrate The Magic'. I admit, I loved it and still need to hunt down the soundtrack to it.

8 Bit castle for Wreck-it Ralph - coolest thing ever!

The villans section was really neat, but I didn't take too many pictures because I wanted to enjoy the show.

I had never seen Wishes before at the park, the last timer we were there, my parents didn't want to stay to watch it and I was disappointed, so this was one of my requests (the second was to eat in the BatB castle and the third was to meet Gaston). I was just blown away. This was a great spot to view the fireworks without being in a mass crowd.

After this, we wanted to hang around for awhile, we we made a beeline for Adventureland as it wouldn't be too much crowd fighting going that way. We still had 3 snacks each to use up, sadly, no churro carts were open after 11pm, so I simply walked around while my parents got their first Dole Whip. Me, not a Dole Whip fan, sorry. But they really liked it.

While they were eating those, I happened upon the Fairies location. We had gone by that area so many times this trip but I had never seen it. It was still open and they said the faries were still meeting, so I walked right up! There were only 2, but that was ok by me!

Terrence was confused by my glow accessories that I had brought with me (.50 for the package - thanks to the 50% off coupon - it was a family tradition, starting with our first trip to DL when we were young, we would buy them at the parks back then and wear them, then put them in the hotel freezer until the next night so that they would last longer, this made 6 bracelets and 2 necklaces) and was wearing for the night. He waned to know how much fairy dust it takes to power one, and that it must be more than the one scoop that Fairy Gary allows.

I didn't eat it until after we had arrived home and had a hard time figuring out where to start, lol.

As we were heading out, another Electrical Parade had started, so it was a nice sight to see and hear as we left the park. As soon as we left, depression was already setting in.

I mean, how could we leave a sight like this at our wonderful hotel?

In the end, we did have to leave. None of us wanted to, but we all decided that next time, we would stay 6 days at the parks and have 1 day of just exploring different hotels and exploring more of our hotel. I had typed up a list on my phone of our do's and don'ts for next time, where we liked eating, where we would go back to only if we had to, what we learned about fastpass+ and reservation times and what we liked and didn't like about it, etc.

WDW, i'm not sure when I will be back, but I will be back someday, so until then.....

Okay, I feel dumb here, but I am trying to figure out what hotel you stayed at. It is probably right in front of my eyes and I can't see it: is that Port Orleans? Or is it another one? I don't think it's French Quarter...maybe it's Riverside?

I've never stayed there but want to look into it because your pictures were so awesome.

What a wonderful trip report. I just loved every bit of it. You really have a talent for putting this together in a great way.

It was Port Orleans Riverside. Just a beautiful place!
