WDW Pirates to be closed for refurb from early March thru July 6th

I quite agree... I really don't care about them updating WDW's ride since it's well known as the most inferior of the versions (and WDW is my home park so I still love it dearly). There's something weird about meddling with Dianeyland's version. A sprucing up is always in order, but I'm not sure about changing key show elements...

Even better than all that... my fellow CP and co-worker was just cast in the role of Capt Jack himself as a face character. So not only are we gonna have Capt Jack invading Pirates but youll prob be seeing him around other parks as well.

side note - CPs usually have to wait until their program is finished until they can transfer into a different dept (i.e. operations to entertainment). but in the case of my friend, they are taking him now! which means they mean business and needed a capt jack really bad!

You know... It's *that* other DL park besides TDL, that makes seasoned WDW guests go.. "wait a sec...why isn't our park as nice as that one over there in CA?"

WDW's version will see far fewer changes, if only because it is half the length of DL's ... They have more room to play in Anaheim.

But WDW's is in much worse shape to begin with, so hopefully it will sparkle and every effect will work when this is done (like Small World).

I am looking forward to riding both versions this summer ... after trying out the Paris version this spring.

Am I wrong to think that this change will ruin Disneyland's version but as far as WDW's verison goes, I don't think anything can ruin what they have already.

Thank god for small (oy) favors. Regardless of size I LOVE WDW's and some of the full scale changes they want to make I'm not happy with. I'd love a Jack Sparrow in the treasure room. Other than that...no I'm not a fan of what they want to do.

i am looking forward to the changes from what I have heard of them so far. this ride is 30 + at wdw and was an afterthought at that. besides didn't walt say that DL was meant to change and not be constant? and whatever brings in the masses... as long as it's done well.

The more they change of WDW's version THE BETTER! If it was up to me I'd keep the ride closed longer and make it as good as it possibly can be.

You're not serious, TDLFAN and anyone who disagrees with this upgrade. This is fantastic! I have been going to Disney parks for 30 years and work at WDW for 15. Ride upgrades are usually always great, as proven with Haunted Mansion Xmas and Xmas Small World. AND Tiki Birds WDW! (please....let the boring, extra long, 17 min, guests walk out every show Disneyland RIP...you'll say you love it, but, you really dont. And your kids are bored when you go in, mentally wishing mommy and daddy would take them to Dumbos or Buzz Lightyear)
