Re: WDW Pirates to be closed for refurb from early March thru July 6th

WDW hates to close attractions for any reason. They don't want people to come into City Hall bitching about how much they paid to be there and now they get to the MK and their fave attraction is closed.

It's ridiculous, but it's part of why major attractions fall into disrepair.

It's not about having attractions closed or open, it's about refurbishment time. WDW's Pirates is getting about 2 weeks more refurb time than DL... so it can reopen for Easter without effecting the refurb schedule.

I hate to keep saying this, but you're wrong, Mike.

Do you know when Pirates last had a thorough rehab at the MK?

Do you know how many times Pirates at DL has been closed for weeks or months over the past decade to clean it, upgrade it, keep it show quality?

DL will be plenty busy at Easter too, but only at WDW will they halt work to keep their version open so as to not offend the tourists.

Yes, this is THE reason they wont close ANYTHING. It will 'inconvience the guest'. As if guests were NOT incovienced when they had the Pirates Premirere at DL?? And SPLASH down 3x in what 2years?? Matterhorn down 2times in ONE YEAR. Gimme a break....

Yep. DL isn't afraid of its guests. It will shut down numerous E-Tickets at once to keep them in top condition. The MK? Hah. Phil Holmes doesn't have the fortitude to close any ...

BTW, you wouldn't be related to OTownDude would you?

..Gee.. And here I was thinking the reason why they didn't want to close rides was because they did not want to spend money refurbishing much at the MK....

How is DL treating its guests any different? I don't see the logic. They both start refurb in the beginning of March. WDW's takes a 2 week break in April while DL's opens 2 weeks early. Neither is inconveniencing guests more than the other as they both have the same length of refurb.

....and God knows TDR would not think twice about closing rides and shows that merit a bit of undusting or a simple coat of paint... because OLC does care a lot about the quality of their Japan parks. It's evident by thier pristined look.. so good in fact that many who have not been there can not even visualize how good the maintenance is at TDR.

    That's probably the real reason.
