    Harmony... and a shave?

So they don't do an old-fashioned shave at the Harmony Barber Shop? I don't see it on their menu. 'Cause that would be kind of cool -- hot towel, nice lather, close shave... and a song? What a fun way to kick off the day in the Magic Kingdom. As it is, there isn't much there for us "follically challenged" gents.

(And I'll be there on my birthday next month. The only other time I was at WDW -- many many years ago -- was on my birthday. That time we started the day off with breakfast in the castle. Which let out early into an empty park. Which led to seeing Pooh and Eeyore standing around. Which led to Pooh escorting my wife to his special ride, and Eeyore climbing on board with my daughters, and then us all just hanging out in an empty park for a while with the Hundred Acres gang. Which was really cool! But I digress... I was really hoping for a turn-of-the-century Barber Shop shave. Oh well...)

    Re: Harmony... and a shave?

I always go there for a haircut, and I have never seen anyone getting a shave. This time, I made an appointment. Normally, I just show up, and wait my turn. Things have changed these many years. The location was different when I was there the first time in 1997 with my 4 year old grandson. They don't do colored hair gel anymore. My grandson loved that when he was a preteen. Copper Colored Spiked hair was a real hit one year when he was visiting Star Wars characters in MGM.

When is the best time to get a trim at the Harmony Barber Shop?

When can I expect zero wait? Morning, first thing? Afternoon, during the parade? Night time, after the rides?

You can make reservations by calling (407) WDW-PLAY. I always walk in and there's rarely a long wait (mostly I try weekday late morning or around lunchtime), maybe 20-30 minutes tops, but sometimes you can just take a chair.

If you have a reservation though, you get the next chair after you get there. I've been bumped for a reservation as well.

Am I able to pop in, say hello get a reservation, and come back later?

No, you can only make the reservations in advance. They don't take them there and don't have access to add them to the system. If you walk in, you're walking in.

Bugs Bunny gives them at Universal while singing opera.

But seriously, I love this place and it should be mentioned in every Disneyland vs. Magic Kingdom debate along with the more beautiful castle. (You know which one.)

If your group splits up at the Magic Kingdom, I recommend getting a haircut and seeing if anyone in your group notices when you reunite.
