What is the extent of your Disney World obsession?

Well I saw this thread in the DLR forum, and tried as hard as I could to relate to it... but there is a slight barrier there, we me having never been there. I thought, "I can write so much more if this was in the WDW forum"... so thats what I did! I'd love to see your replies.

VISITS: Five times, with a sixth this October. Most of my visits have been during a celebration/festival period, so I have limited memories of just a normal WDW.

OTHER ACTIVITIES: I write for MickeyNews.com, I read MiceAge, MousePlanet, JimHillMedia, I spend most of my Disney internet time on MiceChat. I am doing my work experience at a Disney specialist store in May.

PIN TRADING: I have about fifty pins. Majority from WDW, about ten from Disneyland, and about five from Disneyland Paris. I have an opening day one from Hong Kong Disneyland.

CLOTHES: Loads! Golden ears from DLR and WDW (only actually worn the WDW ones), a Fantasmic! shirt, a Sorceror Mickey hat, Mickey shoes slippers, a PhilharMagic Donald sweater.

COLLECTIBLES/SOUVINIRS: Disneyland July 17 05 map (with times guide!), maps from Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea and Hong Kong Disneyland which aren't collectable (I suppose the HKDL is cos it was printed in opening year) but mean a lot to me. A resin replica of the Hollywood Tower Hotel which I adore.

ART: Panorama posters of Main Street, World Showcase, Discovery Island and Hollywood Boulevard. A poster with all the villains on it that I am yet to frame. Postcards from the Art of Disney store at MGM featuring various storyboards and paintings, my favourite being the most famous villains situated around the Queen's bubbling cauldron, so stylised.

BOOKS: DisneyWar, Walt Disney Imagineering, PotC MK to Movies, An American Original.

CDs/AUDIO/DVD: Fantasmic! cd (MGM this time, I also have the DL one for those who read my post in the DL forum), Wishes cd. I have tonnes of WDW mp3s on my computer.

SCHOOL: Tonnes of art work. Most of my school related stuff is about Disneyland - I suppose the reason for this is because I see it as more exotic cos I haven't been there, and it is more historic and detailed than the MK, my 'home' park.

Well I ears, period. But my heart really lives at Disneyland.. so as far as WDW goes I guess I'll just say it's my connection to the people, memories, and working there. Fair enough? I think so.

Re: What is the extent of your Disney World obsession?

I'm not much to buy character stuff of Disney. I have tons of priceless imagineering models, paintings, etc. Monorails up the wazoo, the limited edition WDW rail road engine model, and most of the ride posters. I have a hallway in my house which sports 6 different actually cells from certain Disney movies.

That's about it though. I collect music, but Disney never really puts out anything good... for instance, on the 50th WDW cd, I thought it seriously lacked some good tracks.

Re: What is the extent of your Disney World obsession?

I'm coming down off the high of going to WDW after having wanted to do so since the place opened.

Aside from buying some shirts and stuff on my trip, most my really classic stuff is all Disneyland. Someday I'll have classic WDW souveneirs like my DL ticket books though. "Honey, they called this a Fastpass. You could use them to jump past almost all the line. Then everybody learned how to use them and they took them away."

Re: What is the extent of your Disney World obsession?

I don't want to list everything I own, just a few choice items:

Trips: over 35 I think, with 2 more planned in April and August
Main Street Electrical Parade Walt Disney Classics Collection (All except Cinderella Coach, since to me it looked out of scale)
Books: Disneywar, Imagineering, Imagineers Field Guide to the Magic Kingdom, Birnbaum Guide, Unofficial Guide, WDW for Couples, The Luxury Guide to WDW, the Ecnoguide to WDW, Rita Aero's WDW, Art of Walt Disney, Since the World Began, Hidden Mcikeys, and the Walt Disney World Trivia Book.

Many shirts, toys, and CDs, including I beleive almost every recent Official Album, except 1-2.

    WDW Explorer Cd ROM

Fantasia Flamingo sketch from Downtown Disney
25th Anniversary framed posted (From the Disney Store)
Donald Philharmagic Lithograph and pin, framed
Walk Around the World Brick (H07647)

I'm sure there's more, but these are the most prized possessions I own about WDW

Re: What is the extent of your Disney World obsession?

Copied from teh DL forum (all my Disney stuff is a mix).
    Hahaha. Oh man.

VISITS: As often as possible. I've spent more time in WDW this year than I have my home state.

OTHER ACTIVITIES: Ha! I run a Disney website, read other sites daily, post on Micechat. Play RCT with Disney replica parks and fantasy parks.

    PIN TRADING: Too many.

CLOTHES: My hat, pretty much all I need, besides my backup hat. HM and PoTC respectivly.

COLLECTIBLES/SOUVINIRS: I have two full size replica HM sconces, a full size HM plaque. I have a mini-HM plaque on my wall at home and in the apartment, a PoTC wall skull. A copy of the PoTC Fountain Plaque from Disneyland. Multiple Tomb Sweet Tomb signs. We've a tiki room wait sign...and a "Magic Kingdom is Filled to Capacity" sign from WDW. An HM blanket...a Bat railing topper from the HM...I like to keep those Resort refillable mugs too...
Not counting my couple hundred maps...and the fact that I like to just take every Disney logo'd thing from the hotels...
    I have some menus too...
And WDW Resort pens...like to save those too...
And a trashcan plaque from TL and Liberty Square...
And thats just the stuff I can think of not counting the mugs and glasses and such.

ART: BTM, Splash, New Tomorrowland, PoTC, HM, WDW Railroad and IASW posters that they sold for a few years. As well as 25th Anniversary and Castle posters.

BOOKS: 27 full scale books, not counting the numerous panphlets, vacation guides and 1960s Walt Disney's Disneyland guides. Plus magazines and such. I like my literature collection. Great references.

CDs/AUDIO/DVD: I like all those free DvDs...as well as those on ride DvDs from Ebay. And those old WDW vacation VHS...and some Disneyland...and animated cartoons, Walt Disney Treasures and the like...
CDs...I try to buy most park music CDs...I love to download songs when I can find them, and I used to love Disney Forever Kiosks.

SCHOOL: Whenever possible, into whatever possible. Quite a few times it didn't work for me either.

Yeah I'm scared of myself now...

I guess that works. Wow. You have more time for MC if I don't call and wake you up. Go figure!

I want to see your collection tloolgb!!

    Okay.. filling out the form.

    ______________________________________________

VISITS: 1992, 1994?, 7 days Oct 2003, lived there Aug 17-early Jan 05-06, this summer?

OTHER ACTIVITIES: I worked there. And I'm a Campus Rep. for the College Program

PIN TRADING: Who brought this up. Yes, it's a habit of mine!

CLOTHES: Most of my clothing is TDS, DL, or other stores, but I bought a Demin jean jacket (doesn't say WDW) and some stuff at Property Control, but nothing with "WDW" on it. So.. it's just Disney in general.

COLLECTIBLES/SOUVINIRS: I have a lot of pins and a few snow globes. But all are general Disney again. I think the IASW kids would be fun too. But I'm a poor college kid. I do have a lot of maps and one priceless souvinir I can't relaly speak of here.

ART: I havea print my dad got at WOD in NYC for my birthday last year. I really wanted to get a Mickey painting but it wasn't exactly in my budget.

BOOKS: I have a few books from Disney War to my signed (Cheryl Henson) copy of It's Not Easy Being Green. I tend to pick more up as they go on sale but I don't mind. I like them and paying $7 vs $60 makes it a lot better.

CDs/AUDIO/DVD: The only WDW oriented DVDs I have are the Treasures with the Walt Disney Studios and Tomorrowland one with it's information about Epcot (awesome!). I have tons of Disney DVDs and a couple of music CDs. But I'm not crazy with them.

SCHOOL: I took two classes taught by Disney instructors and I also have taken a number of Disney training classes from Traditions to Campus Rep Marketing 101. I will be taking, The Art of Walt Disney in American Culture and I have written many papers on Disney about animation, themeparks, etc. I made a website for a class and am currently giving speeches about Disney in my public speaking class. It makes things a bit easier and lot more enjoyable.

Re: What is the extent of your Disney World obsession?

    I'll play:

VISITS: I try to go 2-3 times a year.

OTHER ACTIVITIES: I post here and visit a couple other Disney-related sites for news.

PIN TRADING: Not into that really. I have a few pins that I bought because I like them, but I dont' trade.

CLOTHES: I have some old Tigger t-shirts I sleep in. and I have a old school Mickey Mouse Club hoodie I bought a couple years ago at Epcot (because it cooled off that night and I didn't have a jacket).

COLLECTIBLES/SOUVENIRS: I have a few plushes I bought over the years (mostly Tiggers but a Baloo thrown in for good measure). I love my Tower of Terror "lightsaber" though.

ART: I have some "artsy" postcards. Got one of Mickey in a frame on my desk here.

BOOKS: I have "Since The World Began". That's about it.

CDs/AUDIO/DVD: Don't have any DVDs. I have the Fantasmic soundtrack CD, a "mix" CD I made at one of those old Disney Forever kiosks... and I still have my original Country Bear Jamboree soundtrack RECORD.

SCHOOL: Well, I don't go to school so....

I have never been to Disney World, but I do have 2 complete glass sets that they used to have a mc donlads. The first set are round and from the 25th anniversary. the second set are square and say Disney World celebrates and then "2000". I don't like the square ones as much.

I also have the complete zodiac pin set as well as a few other DW pins....

I may have more DW collectible stuff than DL........and I've never been to DW, but one day I might go...
