Bird's Eye View of Disney Theme Parks

Thought Google Earth was great? Get this, Microsoft made something better!!!
With Microsoft Live, you can litteraly see a bird's eye view of Disneyland and Disney World (among other places). Go here to see Epcot (and you can navigate around to the other parks too).

Re: Bird's Eye View of Disney Theme Parks

As a crew member, I get to fly over WDW all the time when we take off to the south and turn west, or approach from the west side to land to the north, into the Orlando airport..so I see the real thing most times. I have also seen DL, TDR, HKDL and DLRP from the air on various take offs and landings from those airports. No need to google that for my pleasure!! Tee-hee..

Now mikey... we liked you better when you were Askmike1... the new moniker is open to jokes... like.. TheDisneyApologist, TheDisneyGuyfromNYC, etc etc...

I like Mike. He's good people in my book.

But uhh... i don't like this Microsoft Live business better than google earth at all! Sure it better pictures, but it's not very convenient to just scroll around and look at stuff. You have to keep click-click-clicking to get where you want

Pizzapants, that's what aerial view is for, it's that straight down look like Google. Birds eye is if you want to spin around a subject.

I've been looking at WDW through this for a while and they must have added the helicopter views while i wasn't looking. I did notice the DL one last night though. MK is in here too.

I will agree with that, however, do remember that Microsoft Live is still in Beta form. And, yes, if they want to trully challenge Google Earth, they will need to make it one solid image instead of the clicking like terraserver.

Here are the top 3 reasons why I think Windows Live is 100x better than Google Earth
    1) Newer pictures- I mean, look at this picture of the old 20k site...

    2) Better Angles- Compare the Castle....

    3) Closer Pictures- Compare mission:space.....

Re: Bird's Eye View of Disney Theme Parks

Okay yeah, i was a little ignorant on my last post, because now i've been playing around with it a bit and the pictures are a lot better in every way, but that darn clickety-clicking to get from one picture to the other! If they somehow make it able to freely scroll around and spin and angle and stuff like Google Earth, then I will undoubtedly scrap google earth and put voodoo curses on it and stuff.

Mike, what you listed is what Bird's Eye View is for. You can compare to Google via aerial (I keep nearly typing Ariel, dag-nabbit) views and road views and yes, you can zoom in closer even in those modes, but the interface isn't so great..

It's nice, but it's got a ways to go.

Here is Disneyland's Birds Eye View. Depending on where you live, you probably won't have a bird's eye view of your address. So far, they only have the major spots (Disney, NYC, Rochester, Detroit, etc).

(Disneyland's pics are a bit older though than WDW's)

Thank you, but again, the page comes up but I can not get the picture.
Its still just blank in the body of the page. Can it be something with my computer?

Well this is interesting: Whenever they took these pictures was during Star Wars Weekends last year. Up by the Star Tours ride (just to the left of the AT-AT) you can see the big banner with Vader's helmet having Mickey ears painted on it. To the right of the gates you can see the little backdrop where you could get your picture taken with Darth Tater. And most importantly, you can barely make out the two stormtroopers up on top of the park gates.
