Question This just in, possible bad news concerning the Toy Story breakfast

I got this information from the Ears-to-Ears Yahoo group:

Yes, but from what I understand it is some sort
of licensing issue. Also, today I heard that the
Pixar character breakfast unfortunately is now dead
and it may be a Playhouse Disney meal instead.

Not sure where this news came from, but can anyone here confirm this dilemma at all?

I can't confirm its dead yet, but it was on life support last week according to someone who would know. Apparently, the Pixar folks had lots of concerns about it, and they now have considerable power at Disney.

But a Playhouse Disney character meal? What's next, a breakfast for the diaper dandies?

In this week's WDW Park Update, Mouseplanet.com states the following:

The latest information that I've been given about the Breakfast and Beyond meal is that it won't be happening. Word is that the previously reported friction with Pixar may have been much stronger than thought, and that they canned it completely. In its place is now tentatively going to be a Playhouse Disney-themed breakfast. No further details at this time. We'll let you know if we hear more.

seems a bit strange to me. I don't think pixar people would mind kids having breakfast with toy story characters. this sounds like the rumour that keeps circulating about the nightmare before christmas and tim burton. everytime something gets cancelled its because the other people don't like it. Is it possible it's simply a casting problem?

or maybe it's just somebody's way of gauging interesting by always leaking information about it's demise and then waiting for all those that really want it to complain...
Many Bothans died to bring MiceChat this information.

I'm a Disney fan in Dollywood land!

Yeah I don't get it...how would they not want thier charecters being out for breakfast?
And Playhouse Disney? That won't last. Many kids of the Playhouse Disney age seem to get freaked out seeing their tv pals in real life...many a child has fled Jojo screaming, even some dressed like Jojo.

Re: This just in, possible bad news concerning the Toy Story breakfast

playhouse disney is aimed at the prek crowd if I recall.. that means if you have children that are older than possibly three, would they really want to have breakfast with Jojo or bear in the big blue house? TToy story on the other hand would appeal to kids of all ages( including mom and dad who have to shell out the bucks to eat the food) I also think that young boys would rather have breakfast with woody and buzz.
another thought, is it possible that with everything going on in the middleast right now they are rethinking including the little green ARMY men?

here's another idea, what about a pirates themed breakfast? since pirates seem to be in again thanks to the movies. captain hook, mr smee, et al. they do a dinner like that on the cruiseline. I bet young boys would really like it. just don't make the pirates too scary.

In Hollywood and Vine? I think Studios people would be more suitable...
Although a Pirates meal would be a good idea for El Pirata Y Perico at MK.

My entire family would love to go to a Toy Story Character Breakfast.

The Character Breakfasts end up costing me a fortune but they are always lots of fun.

There was one with characters like Genie, but not anymore.

I'm with you here. Well, if it's at the Studios. While I don't mind there being another character dining location, let a lone with the Toy Story crew, I don't want it at the Studios. I like the Hollywood that never was and never will be atmosphere to the place. So to add the gang to Hollywood & Dine would take away from that area as it's at the end of the Studios "eat street" (Vine) and on Hollywood Blvd. so close. One other thing to take into consideration is the lack of actual autographs. Kids will keep putting autograph books into their hands and only Jessie can sign. Buzz and Woody have stamps and Bullseye... he's just himself! The idea sounds nice but once you actual try and apply it-- doesn't turn out so well.

The Playhouse Disney idea is also an interesting concept. While the age group Playhouse Disney is marketed towards is quite young, I would SO be there. Again, the actual implementation of such a dining location is also in question. But I'm just dying to give Bear a giant hug!

It's not. The fewer character meals, the better as far as I'm concerned. WDW isn't just for the stroller brigade.

BTW, Pixar has/had major issues with the way the characters were going to interact with the guests. This was going to be more of a show than the typical character meal.
