Late night dinner ideas at WDW

Hey all,
I am flying into WDW next month and staying at the Contemporary. On the first night I arrive in Orlando around 9:30pm. I figure it will be late, possibly after 11pm once I get off the plane, get the bags, the rental car and head to the resort.

What is a fun place to eat at that hour?

Usually I stop at Waffle House, but I think I would rather do something at WDW. I would prefer not to go to Downtown Disney, just because that always seems to take forever to park get to the restaurant and be served.

Any suggestions at any of the hotels? I am looking for someplace fun.

I think most of the table service restaurants close around 10. Probably the most lively place would be ESPN Club at the Boardwalk. Also, the food courts at Port Orleans Riverside or French Quarter, Caribbean Beach, or All Stars or Pop Century. They can be pretty active late at night with people getting back from the parks, and I think they're open until around midnight.

Not sure they're any more fun than the Downtown Disney restaurants, though. If you get there before 11, I think you might be able to get to Big River Grille or Beaches & Cream.

Anyway, the food courts are no worse than Waffle House!

Usually when its late I could murder an all-you-can-eat - I immediately thought of Pecos Bills at MK for the topping bar, but of course the park won't be open at that time and if you're not an AP you wouldn't want to waste a ticket. Hmm...

Yeah, but I'm not a big fan of their room service pizzas. If you stay in the POP or All-Stars, that's pretty much all you get.

Yeah, the only three other times I stayed in a Disney Hotel I stayed in the All Stars. I'm going there in May again and once again staying at an All Stars. And although the pizzas are not the best, they are edible and will fill you up. And having them delivered to your room is a nice bonus. How late are the All Star cafeterias open?

I know that Kimono's (sushi restaurant) at the Swan Hotel (near Epcot) is open until midnight (at least on Saturday nights).

we stayed at the contemporary and the room service menu was pretty good. dinner i think ends at 11 but they have munchies after that. not sure what downtown disney has to offer. I think those restaurants stay open till 2ish or 1ish depending on the time of week and year.

Getting food on-property after 11PM is difficult, even if you have a car. Unless you can really make it to West Side (and it sounds like you don't want to) just scrap it all together and eat somewhere off-property. The only 24 hour options are room service and Food & Fun Center at your hotel, and you can find the menus for both online, but they're rather limited to a few sandwiches and the normal fast food fare.

Even the fat cats at the GF can't call up a gourmet at 2AM when they want one.

Another idea you could consider if you're looking for a fun place would be Citywalk at Universal. I checked their website and some restaurants like Hard Rock or Marley's say open late, however late that is. Jimmy Buffett's starts charging a cover at 10, so I'm assuming they're open well after 11. Also, Bahama Breeze is open until at least midnight. Granted, these are not ON Disney property but they're close and fun.

How late are the All Star cafeterias open?

Midnight on peak and regular seasons. 11pm on Value season.

It does vary from that though. If they're busy they stay open later. I have on the rare occasion seen them close early also.

There's always the McDonalds right by the All Stars.

Thanks Taggart! Is that McDonalds a 24 hour one? And I remember seeing it several times from the bus on the way to the parks. It wasn't with in walking distance was it? It seemed kinda far.

I am with you. But after working some long hours at work to get down to WDW, the taste of the pizza did not matter. Had the window open, heard the sounds of the pool and well...that helped the pizza taste better to me.
