Re: First year you visited WDW?

1999. Was a bit burned out from annual trips to Disneyland. Stayed a week in a "cabin" at Fort Wilderness. Walked into MK after spending the night on a red-eye flight, and was hit with a weird sense of deja-vu. Pretty familiar for a place I had never visited.

As much as I enjoyed WDW, it gave me a new appreciation for the Disneyland I grew up with.

We went back to WDW in 2000 and will visit again in October.
Have bicycle, will ride. Finished 2012 with 10,089 miles, 683 hours, and 482,000 feet of elevation gain.
    2013: 201 rides, 8171 miles, 544 hours, 480K feet.
    2014 so far: 5751 miles, 319,000 feet

1990...for my honeymoon. The marriage didn't last but the love of WDW did!

Does flying over it in a private aircraft while the MK was a pile of dirt count? I did that first for my brother's birthday, yes we have the super 8 films, no I have not transfered them to digital yet, but have them none the less. We (mom, dad, brother (4 yrs older then me) where there (along with everyone else in the world it seemed) for that first Thanksgiving. I know I was there (in the park) before the place opened, but no film exists of that day I stopped counting the days I have been to the parks (does NOT include the time I worked in at Disney) when I reached 1,000 visits, and that was roughly a decade ago.

Gotta go get some more "real" work done. Type with you soon.

2004, when my mom, dad, and I went to Florida on the call of my dad's work. We stayed there for 4 days and I had a blast!

I'll never forget it....Thanksgiving 1975. I was 10 years old. It was the year Disney put on the famous America on Parade spectacular. WDW was still using the famous ticket system and my Mom decided she would pick out the attractions for the entire family. To this day my sister and I get mad at Mom for not letting us ride Dumbo, but instead making us walk through the Swiss Family Robinson tree house! I still have the souvie mug I bought with my vacation money from my Gram. Mom let us see the Country Bear Jamboree, though, and we loved it!! On the Jungle Cruise, my Dad kept telling us kids that the animals were real and I nearly flipped out when the pilot shot his pistol at the hippo--I thought we were goners for sure!

May you be surrounded by your pals this holiday season!

April 1999 - Test Track was just opening up, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster was coming soon, and that hideous hat had not yet become the icon of MGM.

June 8, 1985. It was our honeymoon. we stayed at the Buena Vista Palace near DTD or the village maketplace it was called then. the only 2 parks open then was Epcot and the Mk. The only hotels available were the Poly, contempo, Disney Inn now shades of green and the campground and the hotels at hotel plaza now DTD. The only water park was River country and Discovery Island was open then. I loved the caslte and we thought Epcot was fanstastic.

As nice as the other parks are, we must always remember that it all began at Disneyland. Disneyland should be the crown jewel in the Disney crown.
