So the original was a much longer track, I understand. You would load on the first level and unload upstairs, and exit the pavilion using either that spiral staircase or the elevator, both currently blocked off. My question is - with the current ride so much shorter and presumably following a different path, is it safe to assume that where the original ride ended upstairs is now a big hole in the wall of nothing-ness?
Both the unload and load were on the first floor. lol Though in the original design...
Mr. JH has an article on his site today about John Lasseter spearheading efforts to get another rehab for JIYI, this time with funding-o-plenty and Tony Baxter leading the project. The latest attempt, if given the green light, would also supposedly resurrect Dreamfinder.
I'm trying not to get my hopes up on this rumor. But golly gee whiz!
A dream can be a dream come true
With just that spark in me and you!"
Holy cow, he got something right. Wonder if he saw this post...
I'm just hoping that Lasseter isn't biting off more than he can chew, politically speaking that is. He's still pretty much the New Kid on the Block, and Glendale feathers are oh so easily ruffled. Pushing for Baxter to have "hiring & firing" capabilities with this rehab will undoubtedly bring out the internal Tony bashers, for sure.
That being said... I'd like to see this one get the green light, definitely.
I'd even tolerate another five to ten years of that pathetic wand to bring Imagination into the 21st century!
Now I don't know where the old ride and new ride connected but I would not be suprised if Pressler was too cheap to allow them to even remove the old scenes they blocked off.
One reason why the long walk to get on the ride now is because they built the long queue extension over the turntable area which is now of course stationary. Seems to me the ride now begins towards the end of that former turntable portion and when you went into the colorful fiberglass garden sequence. Which is now the Train noise scene in the dark.
/\ Sweet okay, so where did the old one load then on that drawing?
The original version boarded at the lower left side of that drawing, just by the black space between the blue and green areas. Disembarking took place just before the track turned left into that lower area. That drawing shows what I tried to explain in the post preceeding it... now you walk over the former rotating turntable to board.
According to the Webmaster of the Dreamfinder Forever campaign, Disney Archivist Dave Smith has confirmed that the JII refurb is in the works. Things are looking good for Epcot.
I've been hearing about this also, and I will be so glad it and when it happens. I never go on the new imagination attraction just because it's sad to think of the great attraction that was there before. I will be so happy to see the Dreamfinder and Figment together again and that wonderful song!
