Warning: This post is very long.
I thought I'd share some of my trip photos with everyone. We took close to 800 pictures (all digital), so this is just a small sampling of what is on my computer.
I had this past week off from school, so, of course, I chose to spend it at WDW!
Cast of Characters: Sealsm & her parents
Dates: May 6-13th, 2006
We got up at 3am Saturday, May 6th and drove to Norfolk to catch our plane. We landed at the OIA around 10am, found our baggage and rental car within an hour, and made it onto Disney property by 12. Our first stop: the Wilderness Lodge.
After our luggage was delivered to our room, we didn’t even bother unpacking. We hopped on the boat to the MK!
My Dad picked up his AP, then we headed into the most magical park ever……
First stop: the barber shop for a “Disney legal” haircut. Hi Michael!
We wondered around a bit, went up in the SFRTH and stared at the PotC under construction sign.
Then came dinner! We had reservations for LTT at 5:30.
Since it was Grad Nite, the MK closed at 7, so we just headed back to the hotel. Hey, we had been up since 3am!
May 7th: Epcot!
We started our day off with Kona Café.
Then we hopped on the monorail back to the MK for a while, where my Dad caught the trolley show.
Around 10am, we boarded the resort monorail to the TTT, where we caught the Epcot monorail.
IFAGF is here!!!
May 8th: AK & MGM
We hit AK early so my Dad could ride EE.
We also saw Flights of Wonder.
We ate at the Brown Derby that evening. I made the mistake of ordering ahi tuna and thinking that it would come cooked. Boy, was I surprised when it arrived. Our waiter was nice enough to send it back and have it cooked for me.
Smile and say "raw ffffiiiiiisssshhhh!!"
Later, we saw Fantasmic.
May 9th: shopping
We started the day off by shopping at DD. We had dinner that evening at HDD. Great show! We've seen it several times and love it each time.
We ended the day back in the MK to see Wishes. I also got my first Dole Whip of the trip!
Never too old to be a kid!
May 10th: more Epcot
I went back to Epcot to work my way around the World Showcase.
Bonsai tree in Japan
Dragon in China
We ate at 50s Prime Time that evening. On our way over there, I discovered my future office.
May 11th: MK Steam Train Tour
We took the Steam Train Tour this morning, which I highly recommend to anyone who is interested in trains. My Dad had been wanting to take this tour for a few years now, and even though my Mom and I were not enthused, we agreed. The tour turned out to be really fun. I learned a lot about Walt and his love of trains.
Did you know that all of the trains on the WDW RR were found in Mexico? The trains were all made in the USA, but ran on their first American track when brought to WDW.
The best part.....no one is in the MK at 7:30am!!!
My Mom's one request of this vacation was that she eat seafood, so we had dinner at Fulton's Crab House in DD. It was the second best meal we had on our trip.
On our way out:
After dinner, we jetted over to Epcot to watch Illuminations.
May 12th: Mickey's Magical Milestone Tour
We took another tour this morning, focusing on the evolution of Mickey Mouse. We rode the train over to Toon Town and got to tour Mickey's house before the rope drop. Halfway through our tour, guess who walked in? Mickey!
We also saw Mickey's Philharmagic without having to wait in line. Did you know that there is a Donald cloud in the Aladdin scene?
At the end of our tour, we all received mouse ears!
My Dad wanted to go back to the hotel and take a nap, but since it was the last day, my Mom and I caught a bus to MGM for a little while.
We stumbled upon several street characters.
"99 glasses of orange juice walk into a bar....."
I tried some coffee @ Writer's Stop.
Our last meal of the trip is always the best: Artist Point @ the WL
What a view!
You can't leave WDW without seeing the MK one more time.....
Last Dole Whip!!!
I guess you can say we ended the vacation with a bang!
