What kicks a$$ at the World right now?

I have been motivated to praise the great points of WDW by a certain tloolgb, partly to read what MCers think of WDW and partly cos I agree with tloolgb - we need to show WDW some lovin'.

Personally, when I think of the great parts of WDW, I think of the awesome themeing of the resorts, the amazing craftsmanship of classics like Splash Mountain and the Tower of Terror, the astounding night-time entertainment and above all, it is my favourite vacation place on Earth.

I could go on, but I wanna read what you guys think.

I actually could take you if I wanted to but calling me "old fart" and kicking my *** won't help you bits... I may take loolgb before I take you if you keep that up. Besides... isn't it a bit pass your bedtime already?? A small child should not be up pass 11pm.

Re: What kicks a$$ at the World right now?

    Nice idea.

    Newer things:
Right now, the new area around Soarin in the Land looks great.

Expedition: Everest is amazing. The area around it is amazing.

The new It's A Small World is excellent. Great fresh look!

Mickey's Philharmagic! One of the best music collections in the 'world.

    Classic great things:
The original Tower of Terror. Still has a great queue, and the area around it is great!

The Disney-MGM Studios. MGM is a very easy to "hang out" in park. I'm glad it is.

The Wilderness Lodge. Hotels do not come better than this.

Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. Fire. Music. Lights.

The Carousel of Progress. Dated or not, this is still a great show.

Peter Pan's Flight. Just great fun.

Celebrations. The Flower fest may not have been my thing, but Star Wars Weekends and Food & Wine Weekends are great!

El Rio Del Tiempo. The kind of ride that had a short period in history when it would actually be thought of as a worth-while greenlight. Thank god for small favors.

Let me put it this way... those who do not recieve a TDR guidemap from me are still in the running for a trip to TDR with TDLFAN, and those who have received a TDR guidemap from me... well that's my way of telling you "You loose, but here is your consolation prize so you can see what you missed". I make no promises though...

How are you taking people to TDR? Smuggling them on the planes you work on?

Anywho, WDW does need some lovin' because, well, it's great. (And if anyone says "no! Tokyo and Paris are great!" I'm breaking your pinky ) ROE, go ahead and find me a better fireworks show. Go on, I dare you. The new Land pavilion, oh it's a beautiful sight. Pretty much everything in Animal Kingdom. That park is a beautiful little gem. Mission Space, one of the greatest rides of all time. OH i could go on, but i know people are going to throw Anti-WDW books at me and call me a heretic. Bah. I love DIsney World.

    Voila!

Yes, I also challenge anyone to find a better fireworks show. Oh wait, the fireworks at the TDR are god-awful!

Re: What kicks a$$ at the World right now?

Some of you are so spoiled. You have the chance to jump in a car or plane and walk into a Disney Park whenever you feel like it. Good for you...but for some (like those who work and get vacation time when 'reality' allows), well, we love WDW because it is a great place to escape and have fun.
    So to answer the question...
I love the Hotels, my favorite's being WL and AKL. But I also, about twelve years ago, had a wonderful stay at Port Orleans. And yes, I am one of the few who miss the Disney Institute. Spent five days there once upon a time and learned some fun stuff and met some great people.

Sure the parks and the CM's have some issue's, but I think all major employers have problems with staffing and keeping quality up. WDW is so big and so complex...well, these guys could be faulted to no end for not fixing the place up. But whenever I am down there, it seems as though something is always getting a new paint job or being transformed into something new.
The quality of food has gotten better over the years.
The resort qualities (golf, boating, biking, pools, waterparks, mini-golf...etc) are a great option when one does not want to go into the park's...God forbid.

And there is nothing greater than being able to enjoy the parks at night. This is always magic time for me.

What are some of your favorite night spots?

For me Main Street, Tomorrowland and Splash Mountain looking out over Frontierland and Adventureland are the best.
