    WDW in January

I am planning a trip to WDW in January and was trying to get some information on planned ride closures. My main concerns were IASW and Haunted Mansion, as they are closed at Disneyland during this time to remove the holiday decor.

Any help would be most appreciated.

I don't see why IASW or HM would be closed at this time at WDW since they do not overlay them with Xmas makeovers... but check the official site www.disneyworld.com for ride closures.

Thanks TDLFAN, I wasn't sure if they do an overlay or not, and my 3 year old's favorite ride is IASW.

Sadly, WDW doesn't get the overlays. I think I read somewhere that since Disneyland tends to be frequented more by locals than tourists that the overlays are ways to get more people into the parks. Often, a person's visit to WDW might be the only time they ever go there and so the thinking is that they should get the original version of the attractions. Now if only Epcot would get rid of that annoying overlay to Journey Into Imagination that has been bombing since the late '90s.

I too have heard of this and find it to be abunch of croc, and a sorry excuse to not spend money on the parks.. that is why WDW's MK features the most run down and outdates classic rides of any DL park on Earth. The shame!

Again... it's a matter of budgets. Not until we get some true Disney blood in management, will we see a WDW that meets the standards set forth by Walt.

Yes... they do. But for the fun of it... let's compare with:

-DL (Nightmare overlay, IASW Xmas overlay)
-TDL (Nightmare Overlay, IASW Xmas overlay, Country Bear Xmas show overlay)
    -DLP (IASW xmas overlay)
    -HKDL (no overlay)

Easy to see which park is best at pleasing the guests.

    Re: WDW in January

We were there at the beginning of Jan this year. I was really excited that the only ride scheduled for renovation was the keel boat when we booked the trip. Sadly, around December Disney decided it would be a grand idea to shut down Buzz Lightyear the exact week we were there.

My point is that you never know what will be closed. By the way, January is an awesome month to go!! Have fun.
Kuzco: I can't believe this is happening.
Yzma: Then I bet you weren't expecting *this*.
[Yzma pulls up her dress. Kuzco and Pacha scream]
Yzma: [Yzma revealing a knife attatched to her leg] Ah-ha.
[Kuzco and Pacha sigh with relief]

Actually, I'd rather NOT have special versions of rides for the holidays, especially if it means a ride has to be down for more than a month every year (at least 2 weeks to put up the overlay, and another 2 weeks to take it down, and I think they are usually down for more than 2 weeks at each side!)
