petition to release Bruce Broughton's Disney theme park music

    http://www.gopetition.com/online/8584.html

    Bruce Broughton wrote the following music for Disney theme parks around the world;

Cinemagique – Disney Theme Parks / Paris
One Man’s Dream – Disney Theme Parks / Florida
Golden Dreams – Disney Theme Parks / California
Seasons of the Vine – Disney Theme Parks / California
Ellen’s Energy Crisis – Disney Theme Parks / Epcot Center, Florida
Timekeeper (USA) – Disney Theme Parks / Circle-vision
Honey, I Shrunk the Audience – Disney Theme Parks / Epcot Center, Florida
From Time to Time (Euro Disney / Japan) – Disney Theme Parks / Circle-Vision
Mickey’s Audition – Disney Theme Parks / Disney World, Florida
The Making of Me – Disney Theme Parks / Epcot Center, Florida

He also has scored several movies including The Rescuers Down Under.
Actually, I think Seasons of the Vine is on the DCA soundtrack, which makes me wonder if Cinemagique is on any of the French releases.
We saw John Mauceri conduct Ellen's Energy Crisis at the Hollywood Bowl last summer, and that's got to be one of my favorite tracks.

And it's definitely a worthy cause...some great scores to attractions that might never be released if there is no knowledge of guest demand.

Yes, I agree, there's not much hope, and as of this writing there are only 167 signatures. There's even a nice e-mail from Bruce himself explaining why these works will likely not be released on CD.

But as tloolgb writes, it never hurts, and the main purpose is to show support for the idea and bring awareness of who Bruce Broughton is. After all, his attraction soundtracks rank up there w/ Jerry Goldsmith's "Soarin'".

Re: petition to release Bruce Broughton's Disney theme park music

I think that the issue is a bit out dated. I would agree that if we were talking about releasing a CD ten years ago, then I see how companies would not want to go to the trouble of releasing and promoting a CD that only a few might want.

BUT TODAY WE HAVE iTOONS! Today the music market has changed. Single songs can be purchased without the music companies lifting a finger. All they have to do is post the songs. No album has to be created. No artwork has to be done. No ad campaign has to be developed. Just post the songs. Then they can be downloaded as by fans. If it is good, people will purchase them. That is today's music market. And I believe it is here to stay.

So, the argument that music companies have to "release a CD" sounds outdated.
